Sophia--
"Gracie and I have decided to get married." Those were the words that continued to circle my head later than night after Gracie and Liam had left. The moment those words left my dads mouth, my eyes locked with Liam's and the shock in his eyes terrified me. He hadn't known about their engagement either.
I had put my fork down, and without a word walked upstairs and locked myself in my room. About an hour after that I heard the two of them leave, and my dad come upstairs, pause outside of my room, then continue on to his room.
It was around one o'clock when my phone buzzed with an incoming text. I got off my bed and grabbed my phone on the way to my ensuite bathroom. I looked down at my phone and noticed it was a number I didn't have saved in my contacts. I put my phone down next to my sink, deciding to respond to whoever had texted me later. I washed my face and threw my hair up into a messy bun.
I grabbed my phone and pulled up my unread message
Unknown: Hey Soph, it's me, Liam. I swear I didn't know they were engaged. I knew they were dating and have tried to talk to you about it at school but you kept running out before I could get a word in. Text me back, let's meet up tonight. Xxx
I stared at my phone for a minute before I finally realised what he meant. That all those times I had seen him walking towards me in the hallways, he had been trying to warn me about our parents. And also that he wanted us to meet up. Tonight.
It took me a minute to text him back, pondering if it was worth the risk to try and go out. I finally made up my mind and texted him back.
Sophia: Hey Liam, how did you get my number??? I could tell you didn't know when he said that. I hadn't realised you were trying to warn me. Where do you want to meet up? Xxx
Liam: Ok. I'll be at your house in five minutes. Dress warm. Xxx
