A/N: In honor of one week of Death of a Bachelor (amazing album 474820/10 do recommend listening to if you haven't already) I've decided to do my first songfic! This isn't what I actually think the song means, I just really wanted to do a one shot with song kind of as background music lmao leggo

And also I've been gone for like months so I just wanted to show you my "From the Desk of the Desperate" which is basically me just writing down literally anything that pops into my head during class bc I really wanted to get over the writer's block I had during my months long disappearance

If you're a lover you should know that lonely moments just get lonelier the longer you're in love than if you were alone

The scene of Luke sinking to the floor sobbing flashed through his mind.

Memories turn into daydreams become a taboo

"We could move out into the country if you like quiet nights like this," Luke said, lacing his fingers through Calum's. It was one of those perfectly scenic nights where the moon was in just the right spot to shine its light through their windows, when the city was in no rush and strangely taking its time, when the summer night air was cool enough to float through their open window and keep the apartment from getting uncomfortably hot. It felt like everyone everywhere was asleep that night.

"I think I'd like that," Calum said, dropping a kiss on the top of his boyfriend's head.

Calum smiled helplessly at his ceiling, tears pooling in his eyes. That memory was the exact opposite of now. Now, the city was loud and bustling and much too noisy. Now, the moon was blocked out by clouds of an oncoming snowstorm. Now, the window was shut, stuffed with rags even, to keep the cold, biting air out. Now, there was no Luke.

I don't want to be afraid the deeper that I go it takes my breath away soft hearts electric souls

"Cal- I-I," Luke gasped.

"Are you close?" Calum let out a shuddery breath and leant his forehead against Luke's, looking right into his eyes. Luke squeezed his eyes shut and came, letting out a loud moan, and that was enough to have Calum follow shortly after.

Heart to heart and eyes to eyes is this taboo?

Rolling off of Luke, he turned his head to look at the tired boy.

"I love you," Calum panted.

"I love you, too," Luke responded, smiling.

That was the first time that they'd said 'I love you.'

He looked over at his nightstand and pulled a photo album out. Thumbing through the pages, he reminisced on the old, happy memories of his and Luke's relationship.

And when your fantasies become your legacy

Cake, as their friends and fans called it, became huge when they told everyone it was real. He remembered Cake shippers being strangely victorious (He smirked in spite of himself at the memory of the countless Muke/Cashton vs. Mashton/Cake vs. Malum/Lashton fights he'd see on all the social medias. Imagine their surprise when the Malum shippers found out they were wrong...).

Promise me a place in your house of memories

A tear fell onto a laminated picture of Calum and Luke making dumb faces in a photo booth. Then another. And another.
