The spy who betrayed

Captured~

"Hello?"

"Hey sweetheart, how've you been?" her voice speaks sweetly.

"I'm ok, this job is a little intense, is Mason ok?"

"Yes he's been doing great! He got a scholarship to Baylor!" I smile softly knowing she won't see me, I'm proud of him.

"That's great, tell him I said congrats and that I'll be home when he has graduation, and um mom? H-How is dad?" I knew she felt pitty for me, she knows I don't actually care for him, after all he did.

She sighs softly. "Dear, your father left us a while back after he sent you there..." I clench my fists, I can tell she didn't mind about his presents gone. That man took a lot of things from us, I can never forgive him for what he did.

"Oh.." There was a small silence, I could hear my heart pounding against my chest, I wanted the subject to change quickly.

"Anyway, When is Mason's graduation?" I said quickly, dying from the awkward silence.

"It will be in a few weeks." I can hear the smile in her voice, how proud she is of my brother, mom was always a person who can make you smile even if its the worst of times.

"Ok mom, I can't wait to be home."

"Us too, me and your brother miss you so much, I love you, take care sweetheart."

"I love you mom, you two take care bye." and the we hung up.

"C'mon Cortez back to your post." one of the guards said, and I huffed quietly heading to the labratory center. I worked in a big facility that had several buildings connected, I was in the labratory center, I was a guard there, to make sure no one got in unless they were one of the scientists. I didn't really like my boss, she had this jet black hair that was always in a military bun. She was rude and controlling, but I never complained, as long as I got paid I'm good.

I stood at my post letting the scientists in with badges on every now and then. One of them had this man tied up and brought him behind.

"Woah sir, um what is this?" I stood in the way stopping him with my weapon in hand.

"If you will excuse me this person has volenteered for our expirement that does not concern you, now if you let me pass I will be on my way." He said rudely.

I held my ground. "If he volunteered why is he tied up?" He huffed and shoved passed me.

"Like I said miss, that does not concern you." They went into one of the lab rooms and the steel doors shut.

Within about an hour I here screaming. What the hell? I look toward my partner and he nodded and stood to watch, and I went passed the steel door holding my weapon at aim in case an intruder broke in.

"HELP! HELP ME PLEASE! SOMEONE GET ME OUT OF HERE THESE PEOPLE ARE INSANE!" I hear a man screaming from the lab the previest scientist took the supposedly 'volunteer' in. I unlock the door and walk in only seeing a man tied to a chair with needles and tubes connected to him. I lowered my weapon and my eyes went wide.

The man looked at me and was about to say something but I covered his mouth. "Shh, what happened sir? I'm here to help you but stay quiet." I started taking the tubes and needles out of his body.

"They kidnapped me and brought me here, then injected something in my arm." He said shaky. I helped him out of the tabe he was tied to and helped him down.

"Ok sir, I'm gonna help you out of here but you have to follow me and stay quiet." He nodded and I began to walk out of the lab and toward the back exit with him behind. I found the exit and opened the door leading him out.

"Ok, you are free to go sir." But as I turn around, falls to the ground shaking and figiting like he's having a siezure. Then he just stops. As I get down I reach his wrist and I feel no pulse. I begin to panic and stand up and pace back and forth, and when I turn around to determine what I was going to do, his body is gone.

Just as I wonder what happened I hear screams and yelling from inside, as I run in the building with my weapon in my hands my eyes widen in horror.

The man I saved was eating one of the scientists. I race of to him and raise my weapon at aim.

"Freeze! Let him go!" I yell and he drops him as the doctor bleeds to death holding his neck to stop the bleeding. Then he stares at me and sprints toward me, as I begin to fire he does nothing but flinches, like it has no effect to him. Then he stood still and I see something move in his throat and these tenticle-like-things come out of his mouth. That's no longer a him, that's an it.

It sprints toward me and grabs me trying to wrap its tenticles around my face. I grab its arms and throw it to the ground and shoot it in the middle of the tenticles, and it stops. I kick it to make sure its down, it doesn't move so I back away only hearing the loud thumping of my heart against my chest.

Then I feel something wrap around my face and I begin to black out..

"Hello Cortez." I hear a dark voice as I open my eyes, I look around and I see myself strapped into a table and needles with tubes connected to them lead to my arms. I look to see where the voice is coming from, it's Pandora.

"W-Where am I? What a-am I do here?" I try to break free.

"Well you see Cortez, since you've decided to let the subject free it turned most of our staff so we had to determinate them."

"Turned? What does that have to do with me being here?!" I pull against the restraints.

"Because Cortez, that subject you let go had virus ion in it's system and since you killed it-" I feel my blood boiling and I become free from the restrains.

"you can't run Cortez, no matter where you go I will find you, and I will use you, I will use your powers to make this dreaded place of use." With that I ran out of the room and out trying to get free.

I gasp for breath as I run through the endless corridors of this hospital trying to escape the hell I thought was happening.

"you can't run Cortez, no matter where you go I will find you, and I will use you, I will use your powers to make this dreaded place of use"

I hear her voice repeat those words over and over..

I'm sweating, my blood is boiling, flames burst from sides in the building as I run past. What's happening to me?!? What did she inject into me?

no, no, it can't be...

it successfully combined with my DNA..

I'm no longer a human..

I'm a monster..

I already knew what she was going to say, I just had hope that it didn't happen. I knew what they were testing in the labratory center, but I never did anything to stop it. I had enough of it so I freed the man, but I've caused the lives of the rest of the workers in the facility. I'm just hoping it never got out into the city..

I eventually make it out of the building and I watch as it burns to the ground, hoping Pandora burned to death, hoping she wouldn't cause anyone else pain.. Boy was I wrong for what was in store for me..
