"You're here!" gasped Katherine as she swished around to face him. He was yet again in the shadows, leaning against a tree, his golden eyes glowing. Katherine wondered what they would look like up close, would they still be twinkling?"Indeed, I am" he teased and Katherine's cheeks reddened a little. He seemed quite good at that, teasing.
"Well why are you all the way over there?" Gesturing to the vast distance between them boldly.
"I don't want you to see me yet"
"Why is that?" She frowned.
"Because I know I would frighten you"
"What makes you so sure? Are you disfigured? I wouldn't be so shallow as to be afraid of your disfigurement. Is that why you never came home last night?" She ranted in one breath.
"I assure you, I am far from disfigured. You just can't see me yet" he chuckled. Oh Lord, that sound was heavenly.
"Why?" She whined.
"Woman you ask too many questions? Ones that I would prefer not to answer"
"Will you atleast tell me your name, I did come back like you asked me to"
"Oh yes, well I thought you would have left, I did not ecpect you to return."
"Did you not want me to return?" She asked, her lips turning to a frown.
"Oh no, no such thing. I just did not expect you to come. I thought that you would have left, that you only wanted a place to sleep for the night"
"Well I did need a place to spend the night, I would not risk return to that god forsaken place."
"Would you mind if I asked you why you hate that place so much? Wherever that place is."
"Yes, I do mind. Now tell me your name" she huffed, exasperated.
"Stubborn lady, what if I didn't want to tell you? What would you do then?" He teased.
"Well I have nothing else to do so I am going to stay here until you tell me" she retorted.
"Might as well get comfortable" she mumbled, walking to the patch of grass and sitting down.
He hummed in agreement "maybe you should, so tell me Kathy, did you run away? Were you thrown out?" He said nonchalantly.
"I ran away" she said. She wondered why she was divulging her secrets to a stranger, but then again what's the point of hiding them, she had nothing more to lose.
"Why?" He said in a hushed voice.
"Because" she said, lowering her voice a bit, hugging her knees to her chest. "I couldn't take it anymore"
"Did they hurt you Katherine." He asked incredulously.
"I suppose" she choked out "in way they did" meeting her tortured eyes with his.

The moment her watery eyes met his, he lost his breath, along with any witty comments he would have thought to deliver.
She was just so beautiful, with her soft brown eyes and her hair flowing around her like an angels. He could not fathom why anyone would even want to hurt her.
"What did they do?" He asked cautiously. He felt like strangling anyone who had dared to lay hands on her.
"They... I, I_I can't, not yet" she hiccuped setting her head on her knees. She was traumatised. He regretted pressing the matter. He shouldn't have.
