His Million-Dollar mistress
Is she really worth every cent?

She determinedly fastened her eyes on the entrance as she watched the couples file slowly into the room one by one; the bubbling noise of conversation crackling around in the air like electric.
Leaning back onto the ridges of the column behind her, she sipped silently on her martini and waited patiently for the actual reason she’d forced herself out to this ball in the first place to arrive- as she knew she could not afford to mess it up this time.
Not that she was normally prone to mistakes in her career. No.
After all she was Eden Ericson and Eden Ericson doesn’t ever make mistakes when it came to her job.
All right, when it came to her love life yes, perhaps she was a little misguided- but that was something completely different whatsoever. She knew –as it was one of her most important rules ever- to never, ever, ever, ever, mix business with pleasure.
And so far she had done pretty well by her top rule; she was so strict about it that she refused even to as much have a simple drink after work with any fellow colleagues in case it would ever lead to anything else.
She devoted herself to her job.
That fact was evident to everyone.
It was her life. Day in day out she would focus everything she had into it and she believed strongly in what she did, even if most people frowned down on what career path she had taken. And it was a strange career path, she’ll give you that, but it Eden loved the obscurity of what she did. She didn’t know how others could cope with what they considered ‘normal’ jobs. Like for example, sitting behind desks, sorting papers (which she did sometimes but not often) or serving people buns and tea from behind counters, which were alright she guessed, but nothing at all like what she did. No job was quite like what she did.
And so far all her work had paid off and all those endless hours of devotion to her job and having practically no social life whatsoever managed to put her in the position of being the best in her field of work…
…well kind of.
Eden Ericson was now head of her own TV show/company now, ‘The HeartBreach society’ because of all that hard graft.
A semi-famous TV program in which her and her team caught the cheating bastards live on TV trying to cheat on their wives who decided it would be fun –influenced by some sort of hormonal craze- to try get with another woman.
Eden ground her teeth together remembering the recent argument she had had with another fellow ‘cheat catcher’ TV show who was trying to steal their ratings, ‘Break my heart’ on every Tuesday and Wednesday at the same time as her show.
They’d even had the nerve to call her show “a ludicrous nonsensical waste of the viewers time” on live TV and the only reason that they’d come to a compromise on how to separate out their audience into two defined groups was because Mia, Eden’s best actress (for the part of the seductress in the shows) had caught the eye of the Break my heart ’s boss and now was flaunting around a new sparkling diamond ring on her ring finger on her left hand. It was all right for some huh?
So now that compromise had led to them only dealing with the male adultery cases rather than both. But Eden was too bothered about the direction they were now set in though as their main target audience had been women anyway and what girls are going to want to stick around to see their own be caught cheating on their ‘perfect’ husbands? Then ridiculed to death because of that fact?
