I wake up to the sound of my alarm. "Good morning!", yells my mom. Immediately I look around and know its a dream. The date is a day after when I fell asleep so clearly I'm dreaming. Allow me to explain; each night I fall asleep, and I always dream about the very next day, the people, the places, the facts that are tied into the world we live in. The only thing I get to see change is what I do, I can try living one way in the dream and another in real life. If I die in the dream then I have life to straighten it out, but if I die in real life... you can probably guess.
The fact that this is a dream does nothing to my routine day, the world in my dream is indistinguishable from real life. I get up, change clothes, throw my pj's on my bed, unplug my phone, and head downstairs with my school stuff. My mom is back in her room doing whatever she does and dad is already at work. I make myself a bowl of cereal and start eating... this is getting a little boring isn't it?
Let me speed through the rest of the day, it's a pretty normal day, I go to school, learn, eat, learn, go home and work. Some places in there I talk to friends and talk to my crush, normal stuff. In other words, my day is quite normal. Then I get ready for bed, lay down and sleep.
I wake up, same morning, same date, same everything. I get ready and head downstairs... then there's a knock at the door. I had changed nothing about my day, it should have run as smoothly as the dream... what happened? I walk slowly to the door, extremely nervous the entire time. I open it and... there's a girl there. She says she's looking for me but she clearly doesn't recognize me. I ask her how she knows him. She hesitates, then says she know him from school. I reply with, "I don't believe I've seen you before. Why are you really here?" She stares at me like I've surprised her beyond all possibility, like my words mean everything but are tearing up her style. "I... I need to talk w-with you... in private.", she blushes at how suspicious that sounds, but clearly she just wants to talk about something she can't have anyone hearing. "I'll be out in a minute.", I tell her, "Wait here."
I go back inside and finish getting ready. I walk to the door, far more nervous than when I answered it a few minutes prior. I open the door and there she is waiting for me. So on we walked, towards my school, clearly she didn't care about anything but talking, where as I had my life ahead of me.
She said her name was Skyler but her friends called her Sky. She is my age, like a few things I do and was very open and became more relaxed with me around. I soon asked her why she wanted to talk in the first place, let alone in private. She again became clearly embarrassed and nervous. She told me that if she explained it then I'd think she was lying or crazy or something. So I let her off the hook, she clearly didn't want to talk about it. She just told me to trust her... so I did, even though this is the single-most weirdest thing that has ever happened, I feel like I should trust her.
As she goes on and I listen, she seems to open up a lot more, she starts to ask questions about me and so I answer them truthfully. Over time, I think we both learn to trust each other more. Eventually she runs out of things to go on about which ends up being right around when we reach my school. I say goodbye and she says how nice it was to meet me, and we part ways.
The remainder of the day is exactly like my dream, every little detail is lined up correctly, so I live through it, knowing nothing bad will happen. I get home, do work, eat dinner, and sink into the sheets of my bed. I fall asleep, hoping the mystery of Skyler will be resolved one way or another.
