The sun began to peek out from behind the hills over to the east, as morning came around. As I ran, my barefeet throbbing from the splinters I never took out and from my speed, I jumped to another roof. My throat was thick with glee, my eyes wide and alert.
"Get her!" I heard one of the men shout as he and his gang chased after me from below.
I had saved another young boy, about fourteen years of age, who had been wandering the streets alone. However, when I had made my entrance, the men no longer found interrest in harrassing the poor boy, but instead took after me.
I jumped another break between buildings, my legs burning and screaming to stop, but the adrenaline and the men below kept me going. I was panting, of course, but my mind was only mapping out my route, and making sure I followed through.
I saw another break come up ahead, however there wasn't any street lampposts to illuminate it, because of it's size. It was just big enough I could hide myself in, and not be seen when the men passed.
I jumped down, and landed on the staricase that took up the entire place. Of course the building was four stories high, so a staircase had four levels. I crouched down, hiding myself in the shadows, the men running by.
I heard a couple men ask "Where'd she go?". I had to try and suppress the laughter that threatened to give me away.
These men are so stupid! I thought to myself, still trying desperately not to laugh.
Suddenly one of the men shouted angrily. "I betcha she hid herself in the dark alleyway we just passed!"
Suddenly I heard loud pounding of feet, then there was ringing as the men climbed the four story metal staircase. I felt my eyes widen, which is amazing considering they were wide with alertness and adrenaline to begin with.
I pulled my hat down. I wasn't going to give in that easily!

[Donavin Zervinski's POV]
Where on earth did that little brat go?! I climbed the staircase ahead of the men in my group. I reached the top level, and scanned my surroundings. There was a single plant off in the corner of the level, and absolutely nothing else. I searched, my eyes adjusting slowly to the darkness of the alleyway. Compared to the street, it was pitch black. I knew she was here. I knew this by the smell of Carnations and something else I couldn't identify.
I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. "Mr. Zervinksi!" Came a voice.
I turned to see one of my groupies coming with a guard. I had sent him to tell the lord that She Mask was around, and somehow, he came back with Stevens.
"Johnny? Why did you bring Stevens? " I called down to him.
"Mr. Zervinski, it's the lord sir!" He said, panting heavily, the guard beside him nodding.
I looked around, making sure the She Mask wasn't around, and turned back to Johnny and the guard. "Well, what about him?" I asked, Impatient.
"He's dying, sir."

[Maggie's POV]
Oh my god! Devon's dying? I fought back tears, trying not to let go of the edge of the staircase I dangled over.
"Jeremiah Maximus is dying?" I heard Zervinski ask.
"Yes, sir. He became very ill. He wants to speak with you." was the reply. I let out a sigh. So, it wasn't Devon, but instead his father. I heard their departing footsteps, quickening as they ran.
