Once we arrive at grandma and grandpa's house, I climb out of the car and both of them are actually waiting for us at the front door. I run to them and hug them.

"How are you guys?" Mom asks, walking to them. I smile and step in the house.

"Good," Grandma answers walking in with grandpa.

"Where's your dad?" Grandpa asks.

I don't want to hurt his feelings but I can't lie to him. "He said he didn't want to come. Sorry," I whimper.

"Oh, kiddo. It's not your fault." Grandpa smiles. I smile back at him.

"Dinner's ready." Grandma calls from the kitchen and grandpa and I walk to the kitchen.

After dinner, mom and I say goodbye to both grandpa and grandma. Mom starts the car then drives away.

It's a quiet journey when, "When are the tickets on sale?" Mom asks.

I turn to her, "This Wednesday." I mumble.

"I'll buy it for you." She smiles.

"Thanks,"

We arrive home and I walk into the house and I found dad, lying on the couch with bottles of beers on the coffee table. I roll my eyes and walk to my room. It's 10 pm. I lay myself on the bed. Then, my phone rings. It's an unknown number. I answer it.

"Hi,"

"Uhm, hey."

"Is this Kait?"

"Kait. Yeah."

"It's me, James."

"What?!"

"I'm coming back to San Diego tomorrow. Care to pick me up and the guys?"

"Oh my god. I'd love to!"

"Okay, see ya!"

"Bye!"

I hang up and smile widely. James called me. James freaking Maslow. My best friend. I'm speechless right now. I quickly change to my pj's and go straight to bed.

The next morning, I wake up early. I look at the clock and it's 7 am. I take a bath and run downstairs.

"Mom!" I shout. She's somewhere around the house.

She comes to me and, "What?"

"I need to go to the airport. Now!" I say.

"Okay, okay. Come on." She chuckles as she grabs the car keys and drive me to the airport.

When we arrive there, "Wait here."

Mom nods and I run into the airport. I search for the international part and finally I found it. There's actually no Rushers. That's weird. Nevermind. I wait for them there for like 15 minutes or so.

Then, I spot James. I blink for a million times. Oh my god, he looks so different.

"James!" I shout, waving at him. He smiles and as soon as he steps out of the gate, I run to him and hug him.

"Woah, there." He chuckles.

"I missed you," I mumble as I let go of him.

"Missed you too." He smiles.

"I thought you forgot about me." I pout.

"What? Who would forget such an amazing friend like you?" James chuckles. Then, Kendall, Logan and Carlos come out.

"You didn't tell us you had a girl before Halston." Carlos says.

Oh, I forgot. James is not single. He has Halston.

"What? No. She's my best friend." James laugh.

"Hi, guys." I hug all of them.

"What's your name, love?" Logan asks.

"Kaitlyn but I go by Kait."

"Well, aren't you a cutie," Carlos smiles.

I blush as I chuckle.

"So, is your mom here?" James asks. I nod my head and help them with their bags.

Once we put all of the bags in the car, mom drives us home. We arrive and I quickly take the bags out.

"Wait, are you guys staying here or.." I murmur.

"No but we can hang out here for a while." Kendall replies.

"Oh, okay then." I smile.

The guys walk into the house. I follow them from the back and, "Mom, can you serve anything for them?"

"Sure, honey." Mom walks into the kitchen.

Luckily, dad isn't around.
