"Hey, Luke," I took a deep breath as if it would suddenly give me a burst of courage, "Do you remember what you were dreaming about last night?"

I felt him tense next to me, "A little... why?"

I looked up at the stars, as if they would abolish my gay thoughts and grab me by the arm and drag me into space where I wouldn't have to confront my incredibly attractive counselor about his supposed wet dream featuring yours truly, "Um," I said intelligently

Luke was quiet for a moment, "Did I do something weird?"

"Uh..." This was going spectacularly.

"I... did something weird didn't I?"

I squeezed my eyes shut and clung to the grass beneath me, "You moaned out my name and you were doing questionable things to my right leg and honestly it made me really turned on," I said quickly.

"Oh." Luke muttered.

"Yeah."

"Yeah, I um... I've grown to like you... quite a bit."

I fumbled to grab Luke's hand and held it tightly to reduce the oncoming heart attack that was definitely going to happen before replying with a strained, "Same."

"Uh, are you okay?"

"Can I kiss you?" I blurted out regrettably.

"I- uh- yeah."

Alright. Okay. How would I start this? We were both lying on our backs, so me moving on top of him would make for most comfortable kissing, but that was a bit much for a first kiss... How would I kiss him from this position?

"...Can you kiss me?" I mumbled, deciding to save myself.

Luke brought his hand to my cheek and shifted onto his side before drawing our lips together. It sent a pang in my stomach and heat to my face.

It was nothing too heated. It was calm and awkward and I had my eyes open because I felt I wouldn't remember it as much with them closed. It lasted hardly 5 seconds.

He sucked a bit on my bottom lip before pulling back and pursing his lips, "Um... that was nice."

"Yeah," I agreed, smiling, "let's do it again."

When Luke said most people here wouldn't be that accepting, that must have been him being pessimistic. The Boy Penguins were sitting around a fire with hot chocolate and s'mores that the counselors wouldn't let us make ourselves. Most of them were still complaining about the gross sexist white dude pastor we have.

"Why would I want complete control over a wife? I don't even have control to make a s'more," Wilson asked Uncle Pat, who nodded his head.

"Pastor Gary is really conservative. I know it's not an excuse, but he's old and lives really traditionally," Uncle Pat said.

"You're right," another guy said, "it's not an excuse."

"What if I don't want to get married at all?" said a short guy who was probably 14, "I'll get cats and tell them what to do and how to live their life."

"I don't know what to tell you guys. Make a protest. Refuse to listen to Pastor Gary's preaches," Uncle Pat said.

"I liked it better when he just told us stories about Moses instead of trying to force weird heteronormative crap down our throats," Ashton muttered next to me.

I felt all, if not most, of my former stress melt away. Not really much was mentioned about homosexuality, but at least these guys weren't a complete lost cause. I looked over at Luke and gave a gentle smile to which Luke happily returned.

"So who's organizing the protest?" Wilson asked, "Because I say we all make out in the middle of a sermon and make him uncomfortable."

"What? No. I'm not gay," said the short 14 year old, "and that's against the rules."

"What are you talking about?" Wilson leaned back on his hands as he sat in the grass surrounding the fire, "The rules are 'no purple', and this is like... just blue..."

"Or, instead of being weird, we can just walk out of the room."

"Nice. Boycott his sermons. Good idea."

Uncle Pat shook his head, "Guys, I know Pastor Gary has questionable morals and shouldn't be preaching about it, but the rest of his sermons should be fine. Just put up with him."

"Ugh, but then he thinks what he's saying is okay..." Wilson complained, lying down flat in the grass now.

"I mean, I called him out already, and I would've completely trashed him too ifAunt Danielle didn't rudely stop me," I said smugly.

Lunch was awkward. Emily still tried to sit with us, but Ashton had put his bag on the seat she usually sat in and said, "Sorry, no bigots allowed."

Lauren laughed, "You got over her pretty quickly. Thought you guys were close friends."

Ashton shrugged and looked over at me, "I wish Calum would have called her out like he did with Pastor Gary," he smiled, "That was sick."

I grinned back and told him, "It is what it is."

Luke grabbed my hand underneath the table and whispered in my ear, "You're pretty hot when you're telling people off."

I almost choked to death on my food.
