Chapter Three
I think they reached the final straw with me today.
Becca my foster sister came in my room this morning. And normally I don't like to be bothered but I was trying to make an effort to fit in here, so I welcomed her in.
She had asked for my thoughts on her boyfriend Dillion. Implying that he was acting weird and that she didn't know what to do.
I was surprised she was coming to me with this but I told her the truth, saying it in the nicest way possible.
I took a deep breath and let the words fly off my lips.
"I personally think Dillion is just with you to bang you. He's acting weird because he stole your virginity like he wanted. Now he's trying to find a way to break up with you that wouldn't make him seem like a bad guy."
My eyes locked with hers and I expected her to be furious. Furious at the guy she claimed to love and mad at how he played her. But as our gazes held one another I saw tiny droplets falling from her eyes.
"I can't believe you said that to me. Not only is that not true but I hate you. Go to hell Autumn."
Let's just say, she didn't take it very well and ended up being furious at the wrong person.
She eventually told Anne; my foster mom.
Anne knows I didn't mean to be rude and that I was just expressing my honest opinion, but the kids were getting tired of me. And slowly but surly Anne was getting fed up with all their complaints.
She never said it, but I think she feels if she got rid of me this house will be more peaceful again.
"Autumn honey, I know you didn't mean it like that. But.."
I sighed heavily.
"I know what your gonna say." I cut her off.
This has been a constant pattern for the last eight months. I say something I shouldn't have and we'd sit and talk. I guess you can say she's getting tired of these talks. She has four other kids to take care of and she could easily get rid of me.
"You do?"
I nodded.
"I'm sorry for everything. I know it's time and I'll go pack my bags. It was nice getting to know you."
I was about to leave when she called my name.
"Autumn wait, don't be silly, I don't want you to leave. But I do think you need to get out of your comfort zone."
I was puzzled and looked at her to expand on her statement.
"I got you a job."
