My footsteps echoed in the empty hallways as I walked towards the bathroom. My thoughts were a mess. Why'd you have to go mess that up Aur? Our first interaction had been by far more awkward than I had expected it to be.
Had he said right or left? Oh great.
I couldn't for the life of me remember which one he had said, so I went with my gut feeling of right. As soon as I opened the door I was stunned by one of the most beautiful rooms.
Bright flowers were standing all over the room, so many that some were even on the floor. The room didn't seem to have a purpose beyond holding them, but it the colorful sight left me in awe.
The floor creaked as I walked further inside. Looking further I saw that some that some of the flowers had already withered, which confused me.
My hand reached towards a bouquet of light pink roses and pulled out one. I twirled gently it around in my hand. I've seen this before.
Of course I've seen it before, I own a flower shop. But Why would he have so many flowers just lying around? I heard the floor creak behind me, causing me to quickly turn around and hide the flower behind my back.
"Oh, so you found this room." Corey said sheepishly, his cheeks a light shade of red.
"Why do you have so many flowers?" I inquired, as he sighed.
"Bought them from you." He said quietly, barely audible.
"That's why it was familiar... But why are they all here?" I said, placing the rose back with the others.
Corey fiddled with his hands and looked down, saying something completely inaudible.
"What?" I asked, so he would know I didn't here. He looked up at me with a sad look in his eyes, as if what he had to say was hurting him.
"I only bought them to see you." He said just quietly enough for me to still hear him.
Why would he buy them just to see me? Hadn't he been giving them away? That's a lot of money and time spent.
"Why?" Was the only thing that came to mind. My eyes were wide and confused, staring at him intently for an answer. His face only flushed further as he looked back at me, a vulnerable look on his face.
"The first day I came there, it was to buy flowers for my parents grave. But then I saw you, and it's not exaggerating to say that you were by far the most beautiful thing in that shop. I went home that day and couldn't get you off my mind until I went back the next day, and the next. I couldn't get up the courage to talk to you but I needed to see you. Aurora, I haven't been able to forget about you since that day, and I hope to god that you don't expect me to after telling you this." He said, his voice gaining confidence the more he said.
I stood there in shock for a good few minutes. This whole time I had thought that he had been getting them for someone else yet he was only in there to see me. My thoughts buzzed around messily, not knowing how to reply or what to do.
Before I was aware again I was out on the street, halfway home, full of regret.
