Belle
"Hey there shorty!" that's the first thing that Travis Williams said to me after 3 years of not seeing him, on that Sunday afternoon. There I stand in his kitchen in shock at how much he has changed since I last saw him. Only minutes ago I was sitting in my small bedroom doing last minute homework when I received a text off of Melissa asking if I could help her out with her photography course work. Melissa is my best friend so I drove over to her house straight away. However, when I walked into her rather large kitchen I did not expect to see her twin brother leaning against the doorway smiling down at me making me blush slightly. The last time I saw him we were 14 and he was about to leave for his new boarding school, he was excepted after a sports talent scout had spotted him. I remember that day so clearly; Melissa was hugging Travis tightly whilst crying silent tears. I remember how he looked at me that day, his eyes not leaving mine until he got into the car. He was a typical spotty 14 year old that all the girls loved, he had always been freakishly tall and this was exaggerated especially when he stood next to me. So when I looked up at him and saw nearly a completely different person in front of my eyes I was in awe.
"Erm, Belle?" he says in a husky voice that make my stomach do back flips.
"Long time no see!" I finally say in my quiet, shy voice blushing even more. His chocolate coloured hair curls tightly like tiny ribbons and his dark blue eyes are locked into mine. They have always reminded me of the sea. He is wearing a tight black t-shirt, which shows his newly muscular figure as well as a pair of tan three quarter lengths. He is no longer lanky but tall and built. I also notice that he has somehow grown even more and he looks about 6"4 which makes me feel extremely small being a whole foot smaller than him. I take in every single detail; he really was beautiful.
"I'm guessing it's been hell without me," he says laughing, still not taking his eyes from mine. I guess he was still the cocky idiot from 3 years ago then.
"You wish Williams!" I say giving him fake evils but he just laughs even more. That's when I see a familiar figure walk down the hallway and into the kitchen smiling. It is only then that I realise how much she looks like her twin, she too has tightly curled brown hair and blue eyes, yet hers are slightly lighter than Travis'. Wow, I really am sad if I can pick up on a stupid detail like that.
"You ready Belle?" she asks me as if everything's the same as it always is and that someone who looks like he could be on the front of a fashion magazine is standing next to her.
"Erm, sure?" I say still confused as to why Travis is back and why Melissa is being so cool about it. "Anywhere specific we need to go?"
Melissa is amazing at photography; her pictures look as if a professional has taken them. She could probably take a picture of the most ugly thing on earth and make it look amazing.
"I was thinking about going under the subway today, would it be alright if Travis came as well, I was thinking of taking a picture of you guys under there together. You know get the whole homeless feel going on in the picture. I was thinking loneliness and companionship in the brutal reality of the 21st century. I have such a good image in my head that will go well with the rest of my 'darkness' course work." She really could go on about photos all day. I wish that I were passionate about something as much as she was about photography. Rolling my eyes at her I reply with a "Sure." I may seem cool on the outside but inside my heart is pounding uncontrollably as if it has decided it wants to leave my body as quickly as possible. How can the sheer mention of his name be doing this to my body, I really need to go to the doctors or something because this really does not seem healthy.
"Can you go and get two of your old hoodies Travis, make sure they're really big so that you guys look really poor." Melissa says turning towards her brother. Only then does he take his eyes off of me to look at Melissa before giving her a slight nod and walking through the hallway and up to his room.
