Mackenzie's POV:

This week was one of the longest weeks I've ever had in my whole life. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

All within a week I got my heart broken, my heart repaired, my hair chopped by a jealous devil girl and a kiss on the cheek from the man of my dreams. Well, boy of my dreams .

My daddy picked me up from school today and took me with him to pick up some stuff for dinner. Not only was he a lawyer but my daddy knows how to THROW DOWN in the kitchen.

We were searching up and down the aisles for things that we needed tonight. My favorite was on the menu Spicy BBQ Ribs, Greens, Cornbread and home made Mac&Cheese.

"So baby girl what's up? You know with life", he asked.

It caught me off guard when he started to ask me about what was going on in my life now a days. We never really talked about stuff like this. I'm a daddies girl for sure but we rarely have time to have little chats like this

"Ummm, nothing really. I just can't wait to get to Middle school. All this mess I deal with now you'd think I was already there" I replied.

I always felt that I could keep it 100 with my daddy because he always did so with me. I was comfortable with him , I always have been.

"If you think that's something, just wait until you get there. Technically you're a middle schooler, just not attending a middle school. How are you dealing with what happened the other day?" He asked.

"You have a point and I mean I'm good I guess. Its just hair, it'll grow back. It doesn't even look that bad since mama fixed it."

"I know, I was gonna say the same thing. It looks healthier too. Even with shorter hair baby girl you're still my beautiful princess." He said as he always did.

"Thanks daddy. I get it from mama."

"Hey, you got some of my looks too don't give her all the credit"

"Only your eyes daddy, oh and your eyebrows too. Other than that I look just like mommy."

"Well those looks better not be the reason why you're getting into trouble. I heard about the reason why that girl cut your hair. You got a little boyfriend now? "

I didn't know if he noticed or not but booooy my ears were on fire. I was stuck and didn't know what to say.

"Ummmm, what. I mean he's a nice boy and he asked me to be his boo. I don't know if that counts as being a girlfriend. But I think he's cool. And he's not like the other boys at school. Its just like were friends but we like each other a little bit more. And she didn't want him liking me so she was jealous. That's why she cut my hair because she thought I would be ugly and he wouldn't like me anymore. But daddy it didn't work he still likes me for me" I couldn't hold my tongue worth a damn and I couldn't bare lying to him, he already knew the basics any way.

He stopped the cart and came and stood in front of me with his hand on my shoulder.

"Look Mackenzie you're way too young to be thinking about boys. Right now school is first. Your school books are your boyfriends do you understand me? Boys at this age and maybe even a little bit older start thinking about things that most girls aren't even into. I know I've raised you right and taught you well but I don't want any one taking advantage of you. Or using your feelings to push you into directions you don't need to be pushed in."

I stayed quiet and felt myself shrinking as I stared into my dads bold green eyes.

"Boys start having sex before most girls. Boys start a lot of things before girls. Times are different now. Teenagers are getting pregnant, the guys are leaving them to be single mothers and kids are being raised only to repeat the same habits. You will not be another statistic Mackenzie. I'll be damned. Your mother and I have worked too hard to keep you on a good track. You're not gonna throw that away trynna please a damn boy. And in the 6th grade HELL NO!"
