The Choice (Hotch/Reid/Morgan)

Chapter 5: The Mistake

Hotch returns to the waiting room, where the rest of the team was. "So? How is he?" Rossi asks.

"He's just fine." Hotch answers, with a trying smile.

"What's wrong?" Rossi asks.

Hotch sighs, shakes his head, and then sits down. "Reid chose Morgan." He answers the unspoken question.

"Are you sure?" Rossi asks.

"Yes, I saw them kissing." Hotch states.

"Maybe it's a caught in the moment thing." Rossi suggests. "Morgan did almost die, and Reid does like both of you." He explains.

"Yeah but I see it in his eyes, he loves Morgan more than he will ever love me." Hotch explains.

"Well, the Kid knows what he wants, meaning we can have our genius focused again." Rossi insists.

"Yeah." Hotch agrees.

Morgan pulls Reid into the hospital bed with him. Reid has his back against Morgan's chest, Morgan has an arm, protectively, over Reid, holding him close.

But then JJ came running in. "Reid, we have to talk to you in the waiting room." She states.

Reid is not very pleased but he listens anyways.

He makes it into the waiting room. "We need to return to the Witch Trial case." Hotch states. "But we need you to come with."

"Who is going to stay with Morgan?" Prentiss asks.

"You and Garcia." Hotch answers.

"When do we leave?" Reid asks.

"We leave right now." Rossi answers.

"I need to do something." Reid rushes back into Morgan's room.

"Hey kid what's wrong?" Morgan asks.

"I need to go help JJ, Hotch, and Rossi with their case, we leave now." He explains and then kisses him on the lips. "I will see you later." He says and runs out of the room.

Later that day, Hotch, JJ, Rossi, and Reid arrive. "You're back." One officer states with glee. He sees Reid. "Who's the kid?"

"That's doctor Spencer Reid, he is one of my agents." Hotch answers. "He knows more about this stuff then we do." He explains.

"Well welcome. Bit underdress."

Reid looks down and notices how he is only in his tshirt and skinny jeans. "My work clothes were covered in blood." He explains.

"I see, yeah your boss told me about that." The officer states. "Well help yourself to anything here." He states and walks away.

They all four head into the briefing room. Where they had left their files and such.

"This is how far you got?" Reid asks.

"Sadly yes. We thought we were further but we recieved the call about how it wasn't who we thought it was." Rossi explains.

"Well you might be missing a few details. That might be why you were lead to the wrong guy." Reid explains.

"Okay, kid. What are we missing?" Rossi asks.

"Age range." Reid answers. "This unsub can't be more than 17 maybe 19 years old." Reid states.

"How do you figure?" JJ asks, looking where Reid is looking.

"The way that these are done." He answers then points to the first victim. "See that?" He asks. "The first victim wasn't dressed up like the others were." He explains.
