The Choice (Hotch/Reid/Morgan)

Chapter 6: Relapses Hurt Everyone

Three days passed and Hotch, Rossi, JJ, and Reid are starting to head to the jet, after solving their case.

"Hey, Dr. Reid!" A voice calls out. "Kid!" Reid turns around. "Hey, I wanted to thank you personally for saving my sister." The officer states.

"Oh uh you're welcome, but it was my team aswell." Reid explains.

"Well they brought you for a reason, so thank you." The officer states.

"Well, any time." Reid smiles back and waves as he walks towards the jet.

"What was that about kid?" Rossi asks as Reid catches up with him.

"He wanted to thank me for saving his sister." Reid answers in his usual quiet voice.

"Really?" Rossi asks statisfied. "You did do good kid." Rossi compliments.

"Thank you." Reid replies and walks onto the jet.

They arrive back at the landing and Morgan is waiting there for Reid. When he sees the team he walks over to them. "So you took longer than expected, but you caught him, huh?" Morgan asks. "Details?"

"Reid determined it to be a high school boy in his junior year, who is related to a man who hung witches during the Salem witch trials." Rossi explains.

"I also determined that the women being targeted where the ones that live alone, have a cat, and are seen as very attractive to men. Which ended up to be one of the officers younger sister." Reid explains.

"Really?" Morgan asks impress.

"Yeah, the unsub got to her before we could but we managed to save her before he could do anything to her." Reid explains.

"Oh yeah?" Morgan replies and then takes Reids hand in his. "And you wanted to come back here before you finished." He states. "But look, if you did come back, that woman would have been killed." Morgan explains.

Reid says nothing, he just nods and refuses to make eye contact with Morgan.

Morgan notices this and then looks to the others. "I'll take him home now. We will see you tomorrow." He states and pulls Reid to the car. "What happened there between you and Hotch?" He asks as soon as they got in the car.

"Nothing." Reid answers.

"Sure didn't sound or look like nothing." Morgan states.

"Just trust me it was nothing." Reid answers again and turns away from Morgan. Morgan can see the dark circle under Reids eyes are darker. It looks like he hasn't been getting any sleep at all.

"Alright, well when I drop you off at home, you better get some sleep. You look like shit." Morgan states and drives.

They say nothing to one another for the ride. And when Morgan drops Reid off at his apartment, Morgan quickly locks the doors so that Reid can't get out. "Morgan?! What are you doing?" Reid asks, a bit confused and a bit worried.

"You need to actually tell me Reid." Morgan states. "Tell me what happened that made you freak the way you did." He now demands.

"It was just one of those episodes." Reid answers, mostly mumbling.

It was silent between the two. But Morgan then reaches over and caresses Reid check. "Reid, if you ever have one of those episodes again, I am a call away and I will drive my ass over." He states. 

"I know." Reid murmers. 

Morgan leans closer and kisses Reid, gently on the lips. "I love you Pretty Boy." He whispers.
