Today at the Visions meeting we figured out how to save small areas of the planet. One of the Visions is a scientist and he has created a small orb that is just a bit larger than a softball. This orb replenishes the area around it, making small trees and plants appear and start growing quickly. Within a few days the trees and plants are full grown. Problem is to activate it, it had to scan green eyes, which means we have to go out in public with no contacts. So we will be easy to find and kill. Now we will have to be a lot more careful than we already are.
Today some Visions are being sent out. Today the orb is being tested.
Most of the Visions are just staying at the meeting place and the other are going out to test it. There were about ten that were going out to test it and at the end of the day only one came back. Tomorrow I am being sent out with two others. I am very nervous, I don't want to die but I do want to replenish the planet. I am just praying that we won't get caught. It will be all luck if we all come back unharmed. I told my family that I'm sleeping over at a friends house but in reality I am staying at the Visions meeting place ti be trained for tomorrow.
"The most important rule is to not get caught. If you are spotted, grab the orb and run as fast as you can. Do not lead them back to hear. Just try to escape them, then you can return here." General Saniture explained.
There were three of us going out, me, a girl named Erika, and a boy named Cameron. We were being prepped for going out.
"Now you three are ready to go, we all wish you the best and hope for your safe return. Now go, we will be waiting." General Saniture said.
We walked out of the building and into the empty field that surrounded it. We were all wearing the same thing, black pants, a black T-shirt. a green army jacket, and black combat boots. We all had a bag to carry some food, water, and the orb. I have no idea why we had to wear this but the General told us that it was easier to move in and that it would help us hide. I just feel like he wanted us to have an uniform.
As we trekked through the empty fields we found a spot far enough away from the meeting place and put the orb on the ground. I twisted it three times to the right and the eye scanner popped out. Erika bent down and it scanned her eye. It beeped five times then did one long beep, we closed our eye and there was a green flash that would have blinded us if we didn't close our eyes. We opened our eyes and saw small trees and plants, I smiled. I hadn't seen greenery since I was brainwashed, I missed it.
We did this seven more times and on our eighth we heard voices.
"Where are they?" A man asked.
"Close, I can hear them moving." A woman told him.
"Shit." Cameron swore.
"We have to get out of here." I whispered.
"One second, close your eyes it's going to flash. You don't want to be blinded, do you?" Erika warned.
We closed our eyes and the green flash went off again.
"They're over there!" A man screamed.
I quickly picked up the orb and began to run but they were on our heels, shooting at us. One bullet went right pass me, just missing my shoulder. I heard a couple groans but I kept running hearing many footsteps behind me. I turned me head to see that Erika and Cameron had disappeared. I saw the Darklings running behind me, they were dodging random places where they must have seen a tree.
I turned back around and began running as fast as I could. I saw a cabin and headed straight for it. I got to it and tried opening the door but of course it was locked. I began pounding my fists on the wooden door.
