I paced back and forth nervously in my living room. If I thought Jake meeting my brother, I can't imagine him meeting my father. Every time anyone brought their boyfriend home, it was always Erica. Every time it would end so very horribly. Last time the guy was sobbing by the time he left. I let out a bitter laugh at that thought.

" Why - You laughing like a wishh" My younger brother asked mispronouncing witch, trying to talk with his mouth full of ice cream.

"You shouldn't be eating ice cream before dinner, Mason!" I yelled at him, grabbing the ice cream. I looked down at it, it was my favorite. One bite couldn't hurt right? I shook my head, it'd be a bad example for Mason. I turned around putting the ice cream back in the freezer. I had already changed into a light pink sundress (a.n. picture on the side.) and black lace up boots with my hair in a fish tail braid along my right shoulder. Now I was just waiting for Jake to get here.

" Hey, mum. Do you need any help in here?" I asked my mom when I walked into the kitchen.

"Yah, pull the brownies out of the oven, cut them and put them on that plate over there." She pointed to the black plate on the counter. I smiled instead of saying yes, and pulled out the brownies, putting them on the plate. I heard the bell ring, too sidetracked with the brownies, I went to open the door with the plate in my hand. I stopped by the window, the sky looked cloudy and dark, as if rain could come. I shook my head at the thought of a rainstorm in July, and opened the door.

I don't know which looked more delicious; the brownies, or Jake. He was wearing a white dress shirt, sleeves rolled up with light wash jeans. His hair looked like he rolled out of bed and ran a hand through it, but it made him look ten times better. He smiled lazily at me.

"Hi" I smiled back. He looed me up and down before focusing on the plate. His eyebrows knotted in confusion and amusement.

"Brownies ?" Jake asked me in amusement. I looked down, oh yah I was holding brownies. Duh. I smiled, pushing out my arm.

"Want one?" I asked, grabbing one for myself. He grabbed one too, smirking. I bit into the brownie and accidently let a moan slip. Jake blinked quickly and gulped. His face went blank and he took a bite.

"These are amazing." I laughed, letting him into the house. Jake chuckled.

"You didn't make these?" he wondered, but more as a statement. I smiled, shaking my head.

"Common' I think dinners ready." I grabbed his arm, pulling him into the kitchen. Everyone seemed to be sitting down, leaving two seats next to each other open. One next to the head of the table; my dad , and one next to Mark. Jake sat down with the former, bravely I might add.

"You must be Jake!" My mom said happily coming from the kitchen, carrying a plate of greens. She set them down, wiping her hands on her skirt, she put her hand behind her, pulling her skirt out of the way to sit down.

"Yes, ma'am." He smiled warmly at her.

"Oh, don't call me ma'am, it makes ancient." she chuckled waving him off.

"So, where do you want to go to college, Jake? " My dad asked, making the name sound distorted to the rest of the already-answered sentence.

"Uh, Penn State." Jake answered. I picked up my fork and started eating, trying to make it look like I wasn't listening to his conversation.

"What high school do you go to now?" He asked, I didn't even know the answer to.

"Belmont high, Sir." He smiled. I stopped chewing all together. He goes to my high school, I didn't even know that.
