I threw the phone at the wall. I say there crying my head in my hands. I promised myself to make sure nothing happend to Marcel. I could handle David.
I quickly wiped away the tears that were messing up my makeup on the back of my hand when I heard footsteps.
Marcel walked in. I smiled a bit. He was always cute about everything. "A-are you okay?" He asked. I stood plastering a fake smile. "Yeah, everything's fine." My voice cracked.
I stood and tried to pretend he didn't hear it but I know he did.
"Skye, I heard from the other room about you and David, are you sure you alright?" He walked over to me and cautiously took my hand. I held his. And that's when I broke down.
I explained everything to Marcel. And then apologized for everything I have done. And then he did something I would never of thought he would. He just pulled me against his chest and let me sob. His hand rubbed my back and when I was done I looked up.
He looked down at me. "I-is it okay that I hug you?" He asked nervously. I laughed and nodded.
"You shouldn't stutter so much, you have a really nice voice." I said. He blushed and stared at his shoes.
"I-if-" He stopped when he realized he stuttered. "If it's okay I was wondering if I could drive you to school tomarrow..to thank you for driving me," he had a small smile on his face but I knew for him to ask me all that without stuttering took a lot. "That sounds great"
I drove Marcel home afterwards. And halfway home I just started thinking about him. Marcel was perfect. I don't know why but he just was. The way he smiled and his dimples and he was very handsome. Most girls probably wouldn't notice because he is classified as a nerd and all most people see is his clothes and glasses and his above average academic record.
But I felt lucky to have him, sure I have lots of other friends but I have never had a friend like him.
*next morning*
That morning I had woken up and I felt a lot better knowing I wouldn't have to listen to David nagging me all day about my car, and everything I did that pissed him off.
I quickly got dressed. I chose I white sun dress and my old sweater cardigan and flip flops. More dressier then usual but I wanted to look nice. For Marcel.
Down stairs I grabbed a granola bar and ate it while trying to check I had all of my things for school together.
My mother walked into the kitchen.
"You look nice today," she smiled.
"Thanks," I smiled back.
"So is David picking you up or are you driving him again?"
My stomach clenched into an uncomfortable sick feeling. "Um. We broke up, mom"
My moms eyes grew wide. "Oh, are you okay? Do you want me to drive you?"
"Im fine mom, and Marcel's driving me,"
"Who's that?"
"He's a guy I met at school and he's really nice so don't ruin it"
My mother rolled her eyes when I heard the doorbell. "That's him," I said happily almost running to the door.
I swung open the door and looked up. His tall frame was really breath taking, I never really noticed it. He wore black pants and a white long sleeved shirt and his typical sweater vest. He smiled at me. "Y-you like nice today," he said nervously. I rolled my eyes and chuckled as he stuttered.
"Are you ready to go?" He asked.
"Yeah," I picked up my bag and yelled a goodbye to my mother.
His car ran perfectly. The engine was quite and his didn't stop and cough up to a start like mine. I noticed you could hear music but just barely.
"What are you listening to?"
He reached for the volume dial and turned up the volume a little bit.
"Er, I kind of listen to some classical stuff," I could tell he was a bit embarrassed but I didn't mind.
"Oh I like it," well I tolerated it.
"You do?" He asked surprised.
"Yeah it's kind of nice,"
"Like you," he whispered.
"Im only kind of nice?" I laughed at his comment.
He laughed to "You know what I ment,"
By then we had reached the school it was still early not many cars.
He just stared at it. Like he hated it. Which he probably did.
"Skye," he said softly.
"Yeah," I waited to hear about how this could be the worst day of either one of our lives but.
"Can I take you out, l-like on a d-date?" His green eyes were staring right into mine.
The question caught me off guard. Marcel and I had known eachother for a year but we never really started talking until about two weeks back when we were put in the same seating arrangement in history.
I had just left David. This was bad. This was an awful idea. But then I saw his face. And the bruises near his jaw and the cut near his eye.
"Yeah, just a date," I whispered.
He nodded "Can I pick you up tonight at 7:30ish?" His smile and blush grew.
It made him even cuter. But I nodded. It couldn't hurt, besides David couldn't control me anymore.
