"It was so weird not to have you in church, Li. When Josiah came to collect the money, I was confused for a moment," his mother chuckles through the phone. He laughs as well. They have been talking for at least four hours now and it's not hard to tell that Liam is very close with his mother.
"Well, Josiah will be a great replacement," he comments, making her sigh. After a couple of beats of silence, he frowns. "I miss you, Mum."
"Liam," she coos. "I told you not to tell me that or else I'll start to sob." Liam can only let out a breathy chuckle. "I miss you too, love. But you must be having a great time out, yeah?"
"Yeah. I made friends with my room mate and his boyfriend," he says. His mother was more of the understanding one when it came to people who weren't straight. She taught Liam that you can only drive out hate with love and that if people loving one another was better than people hating one another. His father was another story though.
"That's wonderful, Liam! Your mates were just talking about how worried they were. Even Andy was telling me after the sermon that he was afraid you'd have no friends-"
"Gee, tell Andy I said thanks," he rolls his eyes.
His mother giggles, "Now, now. He means it in a good way. He knows how shy you can be."
"Whatever you say."
Just as he finishes his sentence, the door bursts open and in skips Harry and Louis (okay, maybe Louis was walking but he still was beaming brightly). The joyful opens his mouth to say something when Liam pops up and waves his hand (he's come to learn that you can count on Harry to say something either very inappropriate or very embarrassing almost 99.9% of the time).
"I've gotta go," he says into the reciever. "I love you very, very, very much and I'll call you when I'm done, Mum. Tell every I said hi. I love you. Goodbye," he sighs before hanging up. He stares down at the phone for a couple of seconds before looking up and grinning at the boys. "Hello, Harry. Hi, Louis."
"Was that your mum?" Harry asks, his voice a bit deflated. Louis squeezes his hand, but Liam doesn't notice.
"Yeah," he nods.
"You guys talk a lot?" the curly haired lad dares, ignoring the clear "Haz" coming from his boyfriend.
Again, Liam nods, oblivious to everything. "Sometimes ten times a day."
"Must be nice," is the last thing Harry says before walking to the window and throwing it open.
"Love, what in the world are you doing?" Louis fondly questions, walking over and rubbing his back.
"Breathing," is all he says before popping back in and grinning. "Louis and I are heading to see a movie. Wanna join us?"
"I gotta study," Liam frowns. "Maybe next time?"
"Buzz kill," Harry rolls his eyes.
"Wouldn't want to be your third wheel anyways," Liam retorts, causing Harry to smirk. "I'll see you two around."
They leave without much else to say and Liam cracks open his law notes to study for his upcoming exam. And he's getting real into it, he's got music playing in the background and he's getting a lot done. But, somewhere in the midst of everything, he notices that there's a constant beeping that causes his music to stop for a couple of seconds and honestly, it's getting kind of annoying.
He thinks it's Andy and he's about ready to tell him to properly fuck off but when he opens his phone, he's kind of shocked to see that it's his kik blowing up.
