As I sat at the table eating breakfast with my family I realize that this the last time I'll be having a meal with my parents until Thanksgiving break. 'Well my brother will be with me at least,' I thought as he took a pancake off my plate. Kylan and I are both going to the same university. Davenport university is where almost everyone in my family attended college at. I worked all my life to be able to do something that both of my parents will be proud of.

"Lily are you ok dear?" My mother ask.

"Yes ma'am. I'm fine momma," I reply with a small smile.

"You're just being really quiet this morning and you even let your brother take one of your pancakes!" My father exclaimed as he looked over his news paper at me. I smile over at him.

"Really daddy, I'm fine. I just didn't sleep all that well last night."

My dad just nods his blonde head before going back to his reading and occasionally nodding or grunting when we try to talk to him.

"Oh my goodness! We need to hurry and get your bags in the car! We have to leave in an hour for the airport!" My mom rushes out as she stands and starts taking our dishes to the kitchen.

"I put my bags in the car already so can I keep eating please?" My brother, Kylan, tries to plead with our mother as she reaches for his plate.

"Well help your sister get her bags to the car," momma demands as she snatches his plate out from under his nose. I laugh at the devastation etched across his face as she walks out of the dining room. He snaps his head towards me and glares.

"Go get your bags and set them in the hallway," Kylan orders as he gets up out of his chair.

"Yes sir!" I yell out and mock salute to him as he walks out of the room. I give my father a kiss on the cheek as I'm walking out of the dining room.

"Don't forget that your grandparents are coming over soon so hurry before they get here," dad informs me. I groan as I walk up the stairs to my room. My Nan and Pops are both a bit old fashioned. The believe that a woman is only suppose to be in the kitchen or having babies, while the men are the ones that should be going to school and making money. They are not my biggest fans right now. All summer they have been throwing different men at me and trying to get me to settle down with a man of their choosing. My parents haven't been much better. They are trying just as hard as my grandparents to get me attached to someone. They don't want a "freak" having my heart. I roll my eyes at the thought of that.

Just because most of the people that attend Davenport are a little different doesn't mean that they are freaks! 'I mean Ky has been there for two years already and he hasn't said anything that makes me feel like they're freaks.' I think to myself as I sit the last bag in the hallway. I turn and make sure that k have everything I need before walking out and closing my bedroom door. I hear my Nan as I'm walking down the stairs with my last bag.

"Lily-Grace put that bag down and give your Nana a hug!" She demands as she's in the process of throwing arms around me. I smile and hug her back.

"Hey Nan," I laugh.

After half an hour of my grandparents being sexist old beasts momma comes and tells us that it's time to leave. With hugs and promises of monthly call from my grandparents and a hug, kiss, and a new shiny black Visa card from my dad we head to the airport. When we arrive at the drop-off area my mom starts tearing up. As I watch a woman that doesn't cry over much, cry I realize that I'm going to miss her. I'm going to miss the way she always wakes me up before anyone else; how she always complains about her crazy curls; and the way she is super protective over Kylan and I. Al of a sudden there's two arms around me.

"I'm going to miss you so much! Momma exclaims as she lets me and tackles my brother. Kylan just smiles and pats her head.

"Mom we have to go or we'll miss our flight. I'll make her call you when we land and start towards the university." Kylan assures our mother as she lets him go.

"Okay. You tow be careful and Kylan, watch out for your sister!" Momma orders as she hugs us one last time and gets back in the car to leave. I look over at Kylan and he pushes past me while informing me that he gets the window seat. Grabbing a few bags he heads toward the doors. I quickly grab my things and rush after him. 'Boy this is going to be a long four hours. Davenport here we come!'
