"Lacey, hunny, come give mommy a hug."
I smiled as my three year old daughter tottered into the kitchen to hug me. She kissed my cheek and giggled. God, I loved this little girl, and I was going to miss her so much. I kissed her forehead and sat her back down on the ground.
"Jules, thank you so much for babysitting last minute." I stated, smiling at my sister.
She chuckled. "No problem. She's a good kid, and her and Eric love playing together."
I peeked around the corner at both my child and my sister's child as they dragged around toys and laughed.
"You think you can handle them?"
"You're only going to sing with Allister. You won't be gone for more than two hours, so why are you freaking out so much?"
"You know I hate leaving her..." I frowned.
Yes, I was just going to sing with our brother, his back up singer and first guitarist had gotten sick and Allister had asked me if I wanted to fill in for the Baltimore shows. If I didn't, they would have to cancel and I didn't want to disappoint our home town. So, I felt like I needed to, I just didn't like leaving my daughter.
"I know, but you're gonna be gone only for a short time." Julia chuckled.
I smiled as Lacey picked up her toy phone, becoming distracted.
"Who ya talking to, babydoll?" I giggled.
"Unkie Al." She smiled widely.
"Addy, you're gonna be late." My sister informed me.
"Fuck." I groaned softly before snatching up my bag.
"They'll be fine."
I nodded. "Laceybear, momma's gotta go. I love you."
She waved. "Bye, mommy."
Sighing, I made my way out the door and into my car, driving to the mall for the small acoustic show that My Maiden Voyage was playing today. Allister couldn't play guitar, and the second guitarist couldn't play the first and second guitar chords, so I was needed. I parked and grabbed my case before searching for the small clothing store hosting the preformance.
"Addy!" My brother called, motioning me over with his hand.
I waved and made my way over, avoiding the line of people. The show was set to start in a few minutes. After talking to Al for a bit, the manager motioned for us to start. The band nodded and made their way in front of everyone, with me following behind. The drummer sat on his cube thing, and the second guitarist and I took seats, Allister preferred to stand.
"Hey guys, we're 'My Maiden Voyage', thanks for coming to see us. Oh, and our first guitarist is out sick, so, this is my sister, she's gonna play and sing his parts for you guys." He smiled as the crowed cheered and nodded to me as I began to play.
About half an hour later, my brother broke in again.
"Okay, guys, that might be all the MMV songs we can do acoustic..." He laughed.
My Maiden Voyage wasn't really an acoustic band. Why were they doing an acoustic show anyway?
"Does anyone wanna hear something covered?" I asked, giggling with my brother.
