Before Michael could comment on her apparent lack of clothing, the smell of smoke wafted up into their noses. "Is there someone else in the house!?" Stephanie gasped. "I don't know, stay here." Michael reached into a box in his closet and pulled out a handgun. "When did you get that and why do you need it to go downstairs!?" Stephanie squeaked. Michael pushed her into his room "Hurry up and get dressed!" he commanded, averting his gaze to the hallway. Stephanie quickly got dressed and the two walked onto the noisy hardwood floors.

Michael, with the gun trained down sights, led the two to the stairs and told Stephanie to wait there. "I want to come too." she insisted. Michael acted as if he didn't hear her and put his arm across her chest, pinning her against the wall and out of the stairway.

Smoke had risen and was collecting in the tall stairway and was obstructing the light coming in from the window, darkening the whole area. Micheal tried to turn on the light and found the power cut off. "Why the hell is the power out too?" He went to his room, threw on his favorite black Lakers hoodie, some jeans and shoes, and grabbed two shirts to put over he and Stephanie's mouths as well as a flashlight. It had grown extremely dark downstairs, though he couldn't seem to figure out why. The blinds should have been open down there and it's light outside.

He began to head down the stairs with Stephanie in tow behind him, flashlight aimed ahead and illuminating shapes through the darkness and the smoke. As he scanned the living room, they noticed that the windows were blacked out from the outside keeping all light from entering. "What the fuck?" Micheal said. Not only were the windows covered in a black, tarishly viscous substance, but there were symbols drawn on the glass of the windows from the inside.

Both of their hearts sank at the sound of movement behind them. Micheal aimed the flashlight in the direction of the noise.

Everything became a blur as Micheal tried to register what it was before his eyes. Stephanie screamed before Micheal's whole world went dark.
