I blinked a few times. "You're trying to protect me?" I raised my eyebrow in suspicion and folded my arms together. "From what?"

"People want to kidnap you, possibly kill you." His remark was casual and that bothered me. He spoke as if what he had just said was normal and accepting. "Your father made many enemies in this business."

I shifted my weight to one foot and threw my hands to my sides. My father was in the mafia? "Please - I've never even seen my father. There's no way anyone could know i'm his child." He made his way around his desk, stepping in front of me. His thick, heavy hands were firm but surprisingly soft and delicate as he used them to cup my face - forcing me to look up at him.

"Gattino - kitten, listen. This is the mafia. Everyone knows something they're not supposed too. And unfortunately, you are caught in the middle of things."

He was close to me; too close for my liking. Our faces were only inches apart as he shook my face left and right slightly with his palms. I reached up and gripped his wrists, pulling his hands away from my face coarsely. "Get your hands off of me." I mumbled. He slightly smirked and turned to walk away but I stopped him. "Wait." He shifted back to me. "Why?"

His eyebrows lifted. "Why what?"

I huffed. "Why are you protecting me. Why do you care?" He froze for a second and I think he was trying to think. His face once again became rock solid; no emotions brewing from within him.

He shook his head. "I don't care... I just want my money." He ran his hand threw his hair and walked away from me. "After you work off your debt... your not my problem anymore."

Problem... Kay - sure.

"Problem? I'm your problem?" He nodded slightly never looking up from his computer screen he had suddenly became so interested in. "Your my problem!" I paced around the room as I talked. "If you hadn't of came into my life," I daggered my finger toward him and then myself, "I would probably be home, or out, with friends - people I actually like. I would probably be having a great time! Enjoying myself having a normal life with my normal friends away from your deranged ass. And then I would of came home to my beautiful penthouse, I would've poured myself a nice drink and relaxed - slept," I cried, dropping my arms and looking at the ceiling. "Then I would of gone to work and came home safely like every other normal person in this world does... but now - no. I can't do that can I? Why you ask; because of you! You took my life away from me! My wonderful beautiful amazing life!"

My palms boomed as I slammed them down to his desk in anger as a failed attempt to regain his attention. "So if anyone here is anyone's problem, it's you!"

I slammed the door on my way out with all my might.

I had nothing to do so I decided to take a walk outside and get some fresh air - blow off some steam. I found myself wandering over to a basketball court out back. I had never noticed the full court before. The backyard of the house was more like a park and I haven't seen most of it yet.

There was only one person on the court. The remaining light from the sunset shimmered off his face and by his very tall and overly muscular body I could tell it was obviously Thor. I watched in silence as he threw the basketball through his legs and maneuvered around the invisible players. The night was young and quiet. You could hear nothing but crickets and Thor's quick movement. He made his way to the three point line and shot a perfect basket. The ball slowly bounced towards me. I gripped it in my hands and walked up to the free throw line.

I watched as he made his way to the hoop and leaned against the pole with a smug smirk plastered on his face. "Your not cute." I rolled my eyes and dribbled the ball. I shot it and it went in the basket. Not as smoothly as Thors did but it still got there. He bounced the ball back to me with a simple flick of the wrist.
