She just wanted to be happy,
but the odds were against her.
She didn't demand much,
just for someone who would give her cheer.
Wall after wall she built,
desperate to keep the happiness in.
She struggled to make a life for herself,
but alas, she she had worked herself thin.
Dark figures soon entered through,
and stole everything she worked hard for.
The walls were demolished; broken,
and the happiness left her core.
She tried to glue the pieces back together,
but you can't build from dust.
She was left alone and broken,
her only companion: the earth's crust.
Defeated, she sat down,
took a breath, and searched around.
'Yes!' she said. 'I found some scraps!'
More materials to build from the ground.
Excited, she gleamed and sighed,
her heart had filled with joy.
She started to rebuild, and depended on 'friends',
but they only saw her as a toy.
The walls were twice as thick now,
so the the destruction took twice as long.
She weeped, not because she was tricked,
but because she was alone all along.
Fooled her once,
shame on them.
Fooled her twice,
shame on her;
that's something she had come to learn.
She stopped trying to build,
she saw no reason.
For every time she tried,
it was as if she committed treason.
She couldn't have a happy life,
so she didn't want one at all.
All she wanted was to be happy,
and the only way was to take a big fall.
- She finally found her paradise.
