Chapter 4

"General Hux?" Annika asked knocking up his door. "Enter," he said. She slowly turned the handle and walked in. "Today I am supposed to be training Lord Ren, but he failed to show up" "Kylo Ren has just from a scouting mission, no new leads on the droid" Annika sighed knowing Kylo Ren was probably smashing the entire Star Killer base into pieces right now. "I suppose you'll have to pick up the pieces he leaves behind, Advisor" he teased her.

She shot him an unamused look before heading out in search of Kylo. As Annika was walking down the hallway, she heard him screaming. It was a horrible bloodcurdling scream. It was coming from his bedroom. "Lord Ren" she yelled trying to open the door it was locked. Was he hurt? Was he being attacked? He screamed again. She kicked the door, sending it flying off its hinges. She rolled into the room and assumed a fighting stance. But there was no intruder. Just Kylo was lying on his bed his mask off, screaming as his hands tugged at his hair and scratched at his face. "Lord Ren!" Annika called. He was asleep, clearly having a nightmare, tears were flowing down his face, his face red from where he was scratching. "What the hell?" she whispered.

"Annika, do you swear to protect the leader of the Dark Side no matter what the cost? "

"Yes, grandfather."

"Do you promise to help him in all endeavors no matter how dangerous?"

"I promise, grandfather"

"Do you remember your oath; Annika it was the same one I took?"

"I vow to dwell in the darkness. I will all that I am to the darkness. I am born into the darkness molded by it. I will protect the leader of Darkness; I will sacrifice myself in his place without hesitation. It is my duty to keep him safe, I will not fail. I will give him all he asks; he will never question his trust me. Together we will form a connection light cannot break. Darkness fills my heart. Darkness makes me strong. Lead me to my Lord and I will not fail him"

"Very good my child"

"I'll be just like you, grandpa!"

"No sweetheart you'll be better"

"Lord Ren" she called again. She shook him harshly trying to shake him awake. No response. Tired of his awful screaming she pinned him onto the bed, forcing his hands off his face and held them down. He struggled against her grip but she kept his wrists pinned to the bed. "Kylo Ren!" she yelled tightening her grip on his wrists. He stopped fighting her, his eyes opened. "Annika, what are you doing?" Kylo asked. "Lord Ren, you were screaming, I thought something terrible was happening," she said focusing her eyes on his. Trying to get a read on his emotions. she let go of his wrists and climbed off him back onto the floor.

"I am fine, it was nothing but a dream," he said rising and turning away from her. "Sounded more like a nightmare to me" she scoffed. He turned to Annika. His face was covered in sweat, dirt, and blood. His eyes stared into hers.

"What are you-" he started. Annika raised the wet towel and began gently cleaning his face. His eyes slid shut as she wiped his face is slow gentle streaks. She looked at his face realizing this was the first-time Annika had seen him without his mask. He had black hair, and a narrow face with a defined structure. He was beautiful.

Annika hesitated slightly when I got to his lips, she didn't realize just how close she was to him. Wiping his lips lightly, she noticed he had small crumbs of food on the corner of his lip, she wiped it away gently with her thumb. His eyes opened. Startled she fell back, "I'm sorry Lord Ren, I should have asked for permission to touch you" Annika apologized my head bowed to the floor. "Annika what is the matter with you?" he asked. "Nothing Lord Ren" He reached forward to touch her and she flinched.

It was the first time Annika had been anything less than fearless with him.

He desperately tried to wrap his head around this girl, she checked to make sure he was safe, she cleaned his face, she saved him from my nightmare, and she thought she needed permission to touch him? "Annika, look at me" Kylo Ren ordered. She raised her head slowly, he reached toward to remove her hood and she flinched again, afraid of his very presence. Kylo removed her hood, and gently raised her face. Her face was covered in bruises, freshly done it seemed. Her lip quivered. The lights on the base dimmed indicating it was curfew for all aboard except for a select few. She pulling away from my touch. "I must go back to my room," She said rising. "Nonsense, you will stay here and guard the door, since you broke the lock. "Yes, my Lord" she answered. She went and sat in front on the door.

He threw the top cover of his bed to her so she would have a blanket to keep warm. "Thank you Lord Ren" He rolled my eyes slightly at her. Kylo Ren climbed back into bed, falling asleep immediately. He awoke minutes later to her voice.

Kylo Ren didn't move, he stayed perfectly still waiting to see if she would continue. She didn't. He fell asleep, his mind a tangled mess of emotions.
