People, Places, or Things you should know for Chapter 1:

1. Draco Malfoy (person)
2. Characters, Places, and Events in the Harry Potter book series

--

The news was all over the castle - the Dark Lord was dead. Draco didn't know how to feel about it. He was secretly relieved the Order had won - that his parents were slaves to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named no longer was overwhelmingly satisfying. However, he still felt a twinge of bitterness. Maybe it was because Potter had played hero again... but Draco knew better. It was never about Potter. It just scared him to admit the truth.

Draco ran his hands through his silver-white hair, and pushed the thought from his mind. All he knew for sure was that there was no going back to Hogwarts. No one would want to see another traitorous Malfoy ever again, let alone the Malfoy who everyone knows to have tried to kill Hogwarts' most beloved Headmaster.

Draco barely had time to visit his old room before he had to flee with the rest of the Death Eaters. He walked around slowly, revisiting some of his most favorite memories from the Slytherin dungeons. The students from the other Houses automatically assume Slytherins to be elitist and sinister - even first-year Muggleborns who don't know anything about magic accuse Slytherins of evil. Such unanimous hate makes Slytherin the House that it is, a House that is so proud of its colors, so defensive of its residents, and so dedicated to its prestige. That kind of understanding and camaraderie was something Draco experienced for the first time at Hogwarts, and was something he would dearly miss.

Draco took his time burning his family crest from all of his belongings, leaving no trace of the Last Scion of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Malfoy left. He then neatly packed his things into his trunk (might as well not leave a mess behind). When he was done, Draco left the room with only his wand. As Draco exited the castle, he turned to look back at his old home for one last time. It wasn't exactly Malfoy Manor, but it had provided him with a sense of warmth and community that his sterile mansion could never mimic. Despite the War, Hogwarts looked as magnificent and as magical as it had on the first day when Draco accompanied the oaf Hagrid across the Great Lake with the rest of the first years. He felt a pang of disappointment when he realized he would not be returning to school to graduate next year, but he determinedly squared his shoulders. In a final salute, he waved his wand and sent a shower of golden sparks towards the castle... and went on his way.

He never looked back.

A/N

Hey guys,

I hope this made you as emotional as it did me when I wrote it! I tried to empathize with Draco and the thoughts he must've had when he fled Hogwarts (obviously, I'm changing the scenario -- i.e. he didn't flee with his parents like in the real story -- a little bit to fit my story but still!). Even tho in the books Draco was a bit of a jerk and nuisance, I think he would've felt pretty emotional about leaving Hogwarts. Of course, it was a different kind of home for Draco than it was for Harry and Lord Voldy, but I imagine that he found just as most solace coming back to Hogwarts year after year as did the orphans. I feel sorry for him -- anyone else?

Anyway, more characters to be introduced in Chapter 2! ;-) Let me know who you would like to see in the future, and I'll see what I can do. ** Instructions: only comments in THIS paragraph will be considered. ** For new readers who skipped through my tutorial, this story basically mashes all stories and possibilities that exist in our world into one HUGE story, so feel free to list anyone you'd like in the comments! If you want to list yourself, just give me a one or two liner describing yourself and what name you would like to use. I definitely have space in the story for several cameos~~ (be safe when giving out information! nothing too personal, please!). Thanks in advance for contributing :D

Next chapter coming out by: Sat Feb 6! Hopefully I get it out before then... I'm moving into a new apartment, but I'll try to stay on top of this :-)

Peace (._.)v
Out (._.)o
