After that weird encounter with Charlie, I kind of..distanced myself from him. We finished the assignment, and I haven't really talked to him. I've seen him walking with his head down in the hallways, and I try to give a smile...he's never looking, though. I sat in the quad of the school with Lottie, and some other jock boys. Across the yard, I saw Charlie. He was sitting in the grass, scribbling in some book. I smiled at his concentrated face, his tongue just about sticking out of his mouth.

"Don't ya think, Quinn?" I snapped back into reality, Lottie was staring at me, waiting for an answer.

"What?" I asked, not hearing one single thing her and the boys were talking about.

"Don't ya think we should go to the dance with these lovely boys?" she winked. I was still focused on Charlie.

"uh..sure, whatever." I answered, got up, and walked over to Charlie. "um...hi," I said. He didn't move, he kept scribbling in his book.

"Charlie?" I said. Again he didn't move. "Can you please just say something to me?" Charlie ignored me once more, and I gave up. "I miss you, Charlie. I hope you know that."

Homecoming was coming up and apparently when Lottie was asking me about the boys and the dance, I had agreed to go with Nick Fills. He was extremely cute, but I knew he was a player. Lottie was going with Jack Nickles, who was also one.

"Why would you get Jack and Nick to ask us to homecoming?" I hissed at her during Spanish. "You know they have reputations." Lottie laughed.

"Live a little, Q," she replied, "At least you have a cool date and aren't going with someone like...like...Charlie Taylor." I didn't answer her, not wanting to tell her that I did want to go with Charlie.
