"Why is there purple in your hair?"

I looked at the little kid sitting beside me. "Because there is."

"Why?"

"Because."

"Jerry..please don't do that.."

I yanked my hand off the armrest as "Jerry" tried to play with my new Panerai watch.

"Sorry...he likes shiny things.." his mom said, as if that was an excuse for his actions. We weren't even off the ground yet and I hated my seat. Ryan and Ian had each other, and Jamie had the whole freakin row to himself. How did I end up next to the annoying child and his over exhausted mother?

I shot Jamie a look across the aisle. That was the one decent thing about my seat: it was the aisle seat. He smiled and shrugged his shoulders. Suddenly his eyes shifted towards the front. I followed them...and my gaze fell upon this really hot chick. SnapBack, converse, leather jacket. This was my kind of girl.

She stopped in front of Jamie and mumbled something, to which Jamie moved his feet off her seat. While she got settled in, I stretched around her to look at Jamie. I raised my eyebrows and mouthed 'Get her number'. In return, I got the 'shut the fuck up' face.

She caught Jamie's look and turned to me, then turned back to Jamie. The plane had started take off, but the moment the seatbelt sign flashed off they switched seats. I watched her curl up on the window seat and stare out of the cabin. Jamie, who had switched to the aisle seat, snapped me out of the trace.

"Well hello to you too," he said sarcastically.

"Sorry bro...but she's hot."

"Yeah, and I'm the one sitting next to her"

"So get her number!"

"You don't just get people's numbers Nash"

Amateur. "Slide over and I'll show you how it's done" I say, standing up & forcing Jamie into the middle seat.

She turned around as I was sliding into the seat. She was just about to go back to staring out her window when I opened my mouth.

"Hey there," I began. She froze and looked at me. Her eyes were a light shade of brown. I extended my hand. "I'm Nash"

She gave me a half wave and a one word response. "Chloe"

I quickly pulled my hand back and shoved my fingers through my hand. Well that didn't go very smoothly.

"So...I see you like the Bruins huh? Great team. One of my favorites. Huge fan"

Chloe looked me up and down once before she responded.

"Oh really? Who's their goalie?"

Shit. I knew it too, somewhere in the back of my head. She must have seen the look on my face because she broke out into a grin.

"Yep...HUGE fan alright"

Jamie laughed at that one. I shot him a look but he waved it off. I decided to try one last time to get her number.

"Excuse me, do you have your phone number? I've seem to have lost mine."

I got more of a reaction from Jamie than Chloe. Chloe just stared at me, while Jamie was howling with laughter.

"THAT was the best you could come up with?!" He chocked out.

"Shut up man. At least I tried. Hate the game not the playa."

Jamie just smiled and turned to Chloe. "Hey sorry bout my friend here...he seems to be falling out of touch. He just thinks you're really attractive...which you are, by the way. But don't worry... you don't have to give him your number. I wouldn't if I were you." He winked at the end of it.

"Fuck you," I mumbled under my breath to him.

Just then the flight attendant came over. "Can I get you guys anything to drink?"

"Yeah, I'll have any kind of alcohol you have." I say. I deserved it at this point.

Jamie turned to Chloe. "Want anything? I'll buy."

"No...I'll just have a water please." She said, turning to the attendant.

"And I'll take a Pepsi"

Nothing much happened after the drinks came. Chloe went back to looking out her window, Jamie started listing to music, and I read a couple magazines. "Amanda Bynes gone crazy", "Royal Baby named George", and "is Kimye still together?!" Same old crap.

When we landed in Vegas it was close to midnight. Hell, I wasn't even tired. I was ready to try out my luck.

"Hey Chloe...sorry about earlier." I apologized.

She waved it off. "I've had worse."

Jamie was getting his backpack out of the overhead compartment. He grabbed Chloe's black backpack and started to pull it out.

She freaked out. "What the hell are you doing?!"

Jamie froze, bag in midair. "I...I just thought I'd get it for you..sorry" he held it out to her and she snatched it into her arms.

"It's okay...I'm just a little over protective of the bag...it's all I have."

Jamie stepped back and put his hands up. "Nah I understand... I don't like people touching my stuff either. Ladies first," he said, gesturing towards the exit. We waited until she passed by before walking out. Ryan and Ian were already off the plane.

"Jeez you guys are slow. Lets bounce"

Chloe had started walking in the other direction. Jamie looked at the three of us and then turned around,  yelling "Hey Chloe"

She was halfway across the terminal, but turned around. Jamie gave her the half wave she gave me, and said "See ya around?"

Chloe smiled and returned the wave. She turned around and walked away from us, leaving me thinking that was the last time I'd ever see her.

Funny how wrong I was.
