Chapter 2

<Aines POV>

the school lunch bell goes off and i head for the usual table thats outside. my heart sank when i saw michaels smile, like usual. "hey guys" i say sitting down. "hey dork" michael says laughing but leaning in for a hug. "hey man" you laugh back. Michael and i have been best friends since kindergarten, same as Chloe and Ash. Chloe is my best friend and shes the only person i have ever told about my love for michael. our situation is strange. Brandy quickly joins us with her usual bubbly smiley self. "so guys, im thinking that this weekend we should all go to my parents beach house!" Brandy says excitedly. Shes not rich, but her family doesnt struggle. "seriously? that would be so awesome! all of us?" ashton practically pounces on Brandys offer. "of course! we have plenty of room! so in my car, i already promised Heather and Sydney a ride. Aine?" i nod my head reassuringly. "ok i have a few seats left. Gabrie-" Brandy gets cut off. "im riding with luke." she says hugging luke. "Oi, lets have the guys head up together. he can go in my car." ashton says winking at luke. calum tries to not choke on his soda from laughing. "fine, i'll ride up with you Brandy." Gabriella rolls her eyes. Grabriella is a really nice girl. i mean we have been friends since her and luke have started dating and it seems like that has been forever. she just gets a little controlling at times. but we tend to not mind.

"so you going to the beach this weekend?" i ask michael individually. "yeah i guess. i mean everyone is." he says picking at his food. i stiffen a bit. "yeah idk if i should go...." i say trying to get something out of michael. "oh thats too bad" he replies. he seems just out of it and it really pissed me off. i just cant get through to him. but i will if thats the last thing i do.

<abbys pov>

oh god first day of school lunch room stress. god can i run home or something? pretend im sick? god. my thoughts got stopped when someone called my name. "abby! hey abby! over here!" it was that cute boy in my chemistry class. Lane? Louis? "oh heyy" i respond kind of panicky. "Luke dont scare her!" a girl named Healther playfully hits lukes shoulder. right, his name is Luke. "hey just being friendly. hey abby come sit with us!" he says smiling. i look over to the girl sitting real close to him. shes just staring at me. but i can sense im not welcome here. what do i say without offending them? "hey abby!" i look over and thank god it was olivia waving me down. "sorry but olivia is, i told her id sit with her...." calum turns and looked. olivia froze and sat down when she made eye contact with him. "well next time i guess" luke turns back to the table. i hear his girlfriend Gabriella mutter "good thing too. its already a little crowded." what is her deal? i sat down next to olivia and she immediately says "omg what did they say to you?!" "nothing really. just asked if i could sit with them?" i pull out my apple and look over. olivia slams on the table. "and you said no?!" i stare at her in shock. "well yeah! i guess. i dont know. i think lukes girlfriend doesnt really like me all too much. besides, it looks super crowded anyways." olivia practically falls out of her chair. "1. youre insane for saying no. 2. Gabriella is one of the nicest people ever and 3. we- i mean you practically lost your chance to ever sit with them." she dramatically sighs and then takes a drink of her soda. "hey if you guys are free this weekend, you should go to the beach with us." we slowly look up to see calum and Brandy standing next to our table. "i uh i dont know i--" i got cut off. "YEAH WE'RE FREE" olivia spits out. "oh good!" brandy says cheerfully and hugs us both. "i'll pick you both up tomorrow after school at say, 4?" she waves bye and grabs calums arm and leads him away. he stayed looking back at us with a face where you dont exactly whats going through his mind. he then smiles and waves bye. "what just happened?" i turn to olivia. "i- i think we are going to Brandys beach house...." she says in awe. i roll my eyes and stuff my sandwich in my mouth.

<Brandys pov>

"dude whats gotten into you?" i pull calum off to the side. "ever since this morning you have been acting really strange." i fold my arms and look up at him. hes so much taller than me, it was perfect when we dated. "i dont know B, i just..." he scratched the back of his head trying to find the words to say. he looks back over at olivia and abby. my jaw drops in awe. "you dig olivia dont you!" i nudge him and smile. "i mean it makes sense. you just recently moved lockers which coincidentally is next to hers and thats when you started to act weird! im so good". i smile at my intelligence. he looks down, smiles and shakes his head. "i dont know. i mean i have only talked to her this morning. i dont know what i think." he looks into my eyes. his eyes still makes my heart melt. but our time came and went. we're a lot happier now. "yeah but you have always thought she was really cool and pretty since like what? 7th grade? since that soccer camp." i put my hands on my hips. "yeah whatever Brandy. we gotta get back." he walks back to our group, leaving me standing there. i then walk back over and start planning the weekend.

The next day after school.

<Heathers POV> Gabriella, Sydney, Aine and i are all waiting in Brandys car as she walks up to Olivias house to get Abby and Olivia. the minute abby walked out Gabriella mutters "what is she doing here....." sydney and i look at each other sorta worried. Aine sinks into her seat. "this is gonna be a looooong weekend" Aine says sorta irritated, already. i smile at everyone who got into the car. "hey guys." Abby says friendly. for the first half of the car ride it was extremely awkward and quiet. "sooo how are you enjoying Australia?" i turn to Abby, trying to make small talk. "oh its.... not that bad.... its different." she says awkwardly. i nodd, not really sure what to say. "well i hope we beat everyone else when dibbing the new girl." sydney smiled. "dibbing the new girl?" Brandy laughed. "yeah! like before she joins any other group. ya know?" i laugh and shake my head. sydney is one of those girls who she wants everyone to be her friend. bless her heart.

we all end up talking about school drama and gossip. olivia was able to blend in well with everyone quickly but then i remembered abby, who was quietly looking out the window. "soo... abby, find any cute guys?" i ask her, trying to incorporate her in the convo. she looks towards everyone and was quiet for a few seconds. gabriella quickly turns and looks at her curiously. "i uhm i dont know. i uh think its too soon to say? haha" she keeps glancing at gabriella. "yeah the best are taken.... like luke.. by me." Gabriella smiled. there was a silence. "SO! um Olivia what do you think of Calum??" brandy asks. "Whoa you like Cal?" Aine leans forward. "i um im er. ya know you can never tell. teen hormones and shit like who knows" Olivia shrugs and laughs half heartedly. "you dig him." Sydney sits straight in her chair. "awe how cute" Aine looks straight to the front of the car. olivias face turns bright red and she goes to just look at her phone to distract herself. 

<Gabriellas POV>

we FINALLY got to the house after that long awkward car ride. the guys came walking toward the other side of the car to greet everyone. through the windows i see luke smiling like crazy and goes to give Abby a hug, all excited. i walk over and he leans away from abby when he sees me. i walk over and kissed him hello, as abby stood there. everyone walked into the house. "you commin?" luke says to me. "yeah lemme get my bags babe." i smile at him, he kissed my head and walked in. time to do some damage control. i walk over to abby and stopped her. "listen, im here to have a good weekend at the beach with my friends and my boyfriend. lets make sure it stays that way." i look at her right in the eyes and then go to grab my bags. here goes nothing....
