Modern Times

"And there he is." Mycroft said. "I thought we lost you for a moment."

"Is this what you meant by 'controlled' usage?" Alex asked. Sherlock's eyes and mind adjusted to where he was.

"Mrs. Emilia Richoletti. I need to know where she was buried." Sherlock said, sitting up.

"What, 120 years ago?" Mycroft asked.

"Yes." Sherlock said. John put a hand on his back to steady him as he sat up.

"That would take weeks to find, if those records even exist." Mycroft said. "Even with my resources."

"Found it." Alex said. "Man, the MI5 security sucks."

"Careful, Miss Watson." Mycroft said in a warning tone. "Don't forget, I could still have you imprisoned for high treason."

"That would be better than having a drug addict as my boyfriend." Alex said. A pang of hurt went through Sherlock, but Alex looked like she couldn't care less.

About twenty minutes later, once Sherlock had fully gotten his strength back, private cars had been ordered to take the whole group to Emilia's grave. Alex refused to ride in the same car as Sherlock, which hurt him even more. He was starting to get worried that Alex would actually leave him this time.

"I don't get it." John said.

"You and me both." Alex muttered.

"How is this relevant?" John asked.

"I need to know I was right." Sherlock said. "Then I'll be sure."

"You mean how Moriarty did it?" John asked.

"Yes." Sherlock said.

"But none of that really happened, it was all in your head." John said.

"My investigation was a fantasy, the crime happened exactly as I explained." Sherlock said.

"The stone was erected by a group of her friends." Mary said.

"I don't know what you think you'll find here." Mycroft said.

"I need to try!" Sherlock said. "Mrs. Richoletti was buried here, but what happened to the other one? The corpse substituted for the so-called suicide?"

"They'd move it, of course they would." John said.

"But where?" Sherlock asked.

"Not here." Alex said.

"But that...that's exactly what they must have done, the conspirators had someone on the inside." Sherlock said. "They found a body, just like Molly Hooper found a body for me when I..." Sherlock saw Alex stiffen and shift closer to John. "Yeah, but we don't need to go into all that again, do we?"

"You aren't seriously going to do this?" Alex sighed.

"It's why we came here!" Sherlock said. "I need to know!"

"Spoken like an addict." John muttered.

"This is important to me!" Sherlock said.

"No, this is you needing a fix." John said.

"John-"

"Moriarty's back, we have a case. We have a real-life problem right now." John said.

"Getting to that, it's next on the list." Sherlock said. "Just let me do this!"
