It was Christmas Eve morning and Hermione just got a letter back from her parents. She eagerly opened it up and read it. It took three seconds before she squealed in excitement. She ran from her dorm to the Gryffindor Common Room. "HARRY!"
Harry who was on the couch studying, looked up. "Hey, Mione. What's got you all excited?" He asked.
Hermione pecked his lips then sat down next to him. "Well, remember when I told you I was gonna tell my parents about us?"
"Yeah."
"I told them everything I knew and they want you to come spend Christmas with us."
"Really?"
"Yes! Now lets go pack. You get to finally have a real Christmas." She said then got up running to her dorm to pack her own things.
Ron looked at him strangely from the chess table. Harry just shrugged. "Guess I'll see you after the new year." He said then ran to pack.
It was fifteen minutes later when the two finished and met back down in the common room. "Ready to go?" Asked Hermione. "The train leaves in ten minutes."
"Yes." Harry replied and they walked out and down to the train.
It was 9:00 that night when The Hogwarts Express pulled up to Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross Station. Harry and Hermione grabbed their bags and got off. They walked through the platform and Hermione instantly spotted her parents waiting for them. "MOM! DAD!" She said happily and ran over to hug them.
"Hey, Little Girl." Jeffery Granger replied and kissed the top of her head.
Hermione then hugged her mom. "Hey, Baby." Jean said then kissed the top of her head. "How are you?"
"GREAT! I want you two to meet my boyfriend Harry Potter." Hermione replied gesturing to Harry who carried both of their bags over.
"It's nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Granger." Harry said shaking their hands.
"A gentleman. I like that." Jeffery said. "However, you can call me Jeff, Harry."
"And you can call me Jean." Jean said.
Harry nodded. "Will do. I want to thank you both for inviting me to stay with you for Christmas. It's quite appreciated."
"No problem, Harry. Come on. Lets get to the house. It's freezing out here." Jeff said and led them to the car.
Once at the house an hour later, Harry carried both of their bags in. "I'm afraid we don't have an extra bedroom. The only extra was turned into a personal office. You'll have to sleep on the floor of Hermione's room or the couch. It's up to you." Jeff said.
"The couch is fine. It's loads better than what I dealt with at my Aunt and Uncle's for the last ten years."
"What do you mean, Harry?" Jean asked.
"They made me stay in the cupboard under the stairs on an old mattress from the trash that had springs poking through it. And it wasn't even really a mattress. It was a box-spring." Harry replied in truth.
Both the Grangers gasped. "Well..." Started Jeff. "For now you'll get the couch. Hermione's room is big enough to put a second bed. We'll go shopping for one before the New Year. That way you'll always have a proper place to sleep when you're here."
"You don't have to do that, Jeff."
"Oh! But we insist." Jean stated. "It'll be worth it. We both know it."
"Thank you. It's much appreciated." Harry replied.
"But it's not all they've done to him." Hermione started.
Both parents looked at her. "What do you mean, Dear?" Jean asked.
"They abuse him. Ever since he was five, they made him cook for them and serve them. They only gave him their scraps to eat and it wasn't everyday. It was only once or twice a week. Plus his uncle hits him non-stop. I've seen the scars." Hermione said.
Both Grangers went wide-eyed and hugged Harry. "Then there's only one thing to do." Jean said.
"Call the police and tell Dumbledore that Harry is to live with us from now on. We'll get the papers and sign to be his guardians." Jeff continued.
Hermione could only smile at the thought. Harry went wide-eyed for a minute then relaxed. "But how you gonna convince Dumbledore? He's the one that put me there. And Professor McGonagall told me before that, that she watched them all day and told him that they were the worst muggles imaginable. Yet Dumbledore still put me there. He KNEW what would happen and yet did nothing to prevent it. His words were, 'They're the only family he's got.'" He said.
"That's just TERRIBLE!" Jean replied.
"Don't worry. He won't have a choice once they've been arrested." Jeff said. "Just let us handle it."
Harry nodded and Hermione showed him her room. He put her bag down and then she showed him around the house. When they were done, they took off their robes and Jean gasped as she walked by. Harry turned to look at her. "What?"
"Your clothes. They don't even fit you properly."
"Oh. That. They're my cousin Dudley's hand-me-downs. I never had my own clothes."
"Then we are taking you shopping after we open gifts tomorrow morning. And we won't take no for an answer." She said.
Harry sighed, but nodded. "Thank you."
"You two get ready for bed and I'll have supper ready in a few minutes."
This time both Harry and Hermione nodded. Jean left to make dinner and Hermione turned to her boyfriend. "Sorry about them. They can be a bit much sometimes."
"It's fine."
"You can change in the bathroom. Don't brush your teeth though until after dinner."
Harry nodded and pecked her lips before heading to the bathroom to change.
