Chapter Nine (Day)

Jace's True Reason

“Let's leeeeeeeave,” I whined, hanging onto Jace's arm.

 “No,” he snapped.

 “Pleeeeease?”

 “No.”

 “I'll be good!”

 “No!”

 “Pleeeeeease?”

 “No means no!”

“C'mon, we have to leave now!”

 “NO Day!”

 “YES Jace!”

 “NO!”

 “YES!”

“A NO IS A NO!”

 “A YES IS A YES!”

 “NO!”

“YES!”

 “NO for the final time!”

 “Yes.”

 “NO!”

“YES WE'RE GOING TO LEAVE NOW!”

“DAY JUST SHUT UP AND LET ME THINK!”

“I WANNA LEAVE!”

“YOU'RE NOT A CHILD SO STOP ACTING LIKE ONE!”

 “YOU'RE NOT LEAVING YET!”

“I TOLD YOU A MILLION TIMES BEFORE WE'RE NOT LEAVING!”

 “. . . Can we leave now?”

 “UGH! NO!”

 “. . . . Please?”

 “NO!”

 “. . . How 'bout now?”

 “NO!”

 “. . . Now?”

“DAY!” Jace whipped around and faced me. “Can I write this letter without being pester by you?”

I crossed my arms and glared at him. “No you can't.”

 “Then LEAVE!”

“THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEING TRYING TO DO THIS ENTIRE TIME!”

“Oh no.” Jace slammed his palm to his forehead, leaving a red mark. “Did I really just agree to leaving?”

I skipped around him happily. “We're leaving~” I sang over and over. The professor walked in as I started skipping, and took a moment to take in the situation.

“So, you're leaving today?” the professor asked Jace with a beaming smile. Our two voices intermingled (another word I learned about) with each other.

 “YES~!”

“NO!” Jace shot me a glare. “We're--”

“We're leaving in a few minutes!” I cut Jace off. “He said so himself!”

“Day, I will kill you if I have to. We're NOT leaving.”

 “You can't! We're leaving!”

“You want to bet?”

 “Bet?”

Jace did another slam-his-palm-to-his-forehead before sighing. “Fine,” he grumbling, turning back to his letter, “We'll leave when I'm finished.”
