I looked up at Berrett in awe.

"Good!" I exclaimed, regretting that I allowed that level of pathetic to leave my mouth as soon as it did.

Good? Good!? He just told you he loves you. Sure, it was in the heat of the moment, but that usually means something, right?

Don't do it. Don't get your hopes up. Who has ever really loved you, Murphy? Your parents? Your foster parents? Some hook-up? Nope. Don't buy into it.

Berrett gave me a confused little smirk before flipping over and crashing down to the right side of the bed.

I stayed still for a minute or two. Cold silence.

"I was thinking about going to the movies today, you want to come?" He suddenly said, sounding almost nervous.

"No, I think I'm okay, I have to go make up with Robin anyway."

"That's probably a good idea." he accepted.

"What movie?"

He hesitated, then cracked a smile. "Hercules."

"You good little blockbuster action cliché moviegoer!" I accused.

"Hey! If you're not with me it's not like I'm going to see some leafy one."

"Leafy?"

"Yeah, when you look at the posters and see all the leafy parentheses? Saying 'Most Artsy Pretentious Award' in them or something?"

I laughed out loud. I loved that we had completely different taste when it came to movie, with the odd and newfound exception of Shallow Hal I guess. He eats up every explosion he can get his hands on whereas my favorite season is Oscar season.

"Well, enjoy your mindless fun. I should be off."

I began to drag myself up from his bed, which was a little harder than I thought.

As I re-clothed, he sat up.

He looked me over for a few seconds almost protectively before getting up and coming over to me as I put on my Toms.

"Be safe." he said.

I looked up at him, slightly puzzled. "Of course."

"I know you will." He took me by the waist and kissed me on the forehead, rocking me back a little. I smiled as I headed for his bedroom door.

I walked out the front and back to my car by myself. OK, Robin's. I was ready.

I should call her.

"Murphy!?" she answered like I was some long lost person she was so excited was still alive.

"Hey Robin, I--"

"WHAZZAAAAAPPP!"

"Woah. Are you okay?"

"Oh I'm okay! I'm, in fact, amazing!" she said in a rush.

"Are you, in fact, high?" I suspected.

The first pause since she answered the phone.

"You should come over. We're all hanging out." she said after a while.

Oh. She was with everyone else. And It's not that I don't like my friends, it's just that sometimes I fantasize about having one goddamn peaceful day. But, I did have to apologize.

"Alright Robin. But do you think when I get there we could maybe talk for a sec--"

"See ya soon!" she said excitedly, the line dropping the second she was finished.
