"Um, I'm not used to writing a letter by mail, and I want to send something to my sister that's in another state. How would I write the address on the envelope?" I asked the driving couple.
"Well you would put your full name in the top left corner, and then you would put the address, Forest Lakes, Arionza" she stated.
I was in Arizona?
"Okay, thank you." I told the lady.
I wasn't writing no letter to no one. I just wanted to know my location. They really brought me here? Last time I checked, I was in California.
I felt as if we've been driving for hours.
"We're headed back to the city, Phoenix. Is it okay if we drop you there?" She asked.
"That's perfect, thank you" I replied.
The man in the passenger of the seat didn't say a word to me the whole ride. The kid next to me wouldn't stop poking me.
I sighed quietly in annoyance knowing I can't say anything but "thank you" for their kind gesture.
When we finally arrived, I thanked them, and got off when we were at a red light. I watched to make sure they left before making my next move.
I saw a corner store across the street, so I crossed the light and headed there. I brought 2 water bottles and gum to get some change to use the pay phone.
I used the nearest pay phone and called the only person I knew that could help me in Arizona.
I listened while the telephone rang and waited for a voice to be answered.
"Hello?" The manly voice said over the line.
"Hello, Ty?" I spoke.
"Who's speaking?" He asked.
"Code 39" I responded.
The line was silent for about 10 seconds.
"The back door is open. You know what to do" He responded and hanged up the phone.
I smiled and hanged up the phone.
I went to the nearest dollar store I could find, brought some hygiene supplies, and a small duffle bag to put my stuff in. I then started making my way to Ty's house.
Ty was my brothers best friend growing up. They've been best friends since elementary school. My brother died when he was 19, and I was 16 when it happened. After that, Ty promised to always look out after me since I'm his family. Ty's parents died when he was 16. Somebody shot them, and ever since then, Ty's been looking for his parents killer.
Ty moved to Arizona when I went to college, now that I was big enough. Now I'm 21, and he's 24.
Ty moved to Arizona cause he got busted dealing drugs and scamming people's money.
Ty & I always had a close relationship. When I started college, I would always talk on the phone with him, and visit him during summer vacations and winter breaks.
Me & Ty always had a small thing going on when I turned 17 and they were playing Spin the Bottle at a party.
We tried dating because we both started having feelings for each other. But Ty broke it off after a few months because he felt he was taking advantage over her for being younger than him since he was already considered "an adult".
Now I'm 21 and haven't seen him 2 years since I stopped visiting him during my summer break.
Now I was on my way to see Ty. I was kind've nervous at first because I haven't seen him in a long time and my feelings for him haven't fully left. I'll always have small feelings for him since he was my first crush.
I was now in a cab looking at the city of Phoenix.
"I haven't been down these streets in a long time" I thought to myself as memories flooded my brain.
20 minutes later and I was now in front of Ty's place. I went through the back like he said, but I took my time to examine the place. Not much has changed since I last been here. I stood outside the back door knocking, even though I knew it was open. A few seconds later, the door opened to a familiar face.
"I told you the back door was open", he greeted me.
"I know" I stated.
"Come here" he opened his arms wide offering a hug.
I went in for a hug and rested my head on his chest.
"I missed you" I said.
"I missed you too" he replied rubbing my back.
"Come in" he pulled my wrist leading me inside.
The place hasn't changed really. Except for the amount of weed on the living room table.
"I see you haven't changed" I said in annoyance. He knows I don't like it when he smokes.
"Yo I'm just dealing, relax" he defended himself.
"You look good by the way" he looked me up and down.
I turned around to take a view at parts of his house.
"Thanks" I mumbled.
"Come here", he pat the cushion seat next to him for me to sit.
"So what's up with you? How'd they find you?" He went straight to the point.
I shrugged. "I managed to escape them. . . again" I hesitated for a while.
"And I stole this back" I held up the flash drive-looking computer chip.
Ty's eyes widened, "You have to hide it. No one can ever know that you have it" he said.
"But that's not all. . . I found out" I said quietly.
"I think they're the same people that killed your parents".
