A few days later, we find out it's being kept in the empty storage hole. Right by the exit? I guess it'll never have the chance to get out anyway.
Kyle, Brandt, and I walk to the storage hole. We know Jared is watching it, maybe it's already dead. We arrive and see Jared stand up.
"Ah. Here you are." Kyle says. Jared didn't answer.
"We're not going to allow this, Jared. We've all lost somebody. Hell, we've lost everybody. This is ridiculous."
"If you won't let Doc have it, then it's got to die." Kyle added.
"And you can't keep it here forever. It will escape and we'll be exposed." I said. Jared sidestepped so that he was in front of the small hole with the parasite in it.
"Don't make this difficult, Jared. It had to be done." Brandt says.
"We don't want to hurt you, Jared. We're all brothers here. But we will if you make us. Move aside." Kyle commanded. Jared didn't move.
"Jared, please." I ask. I don't want to hurt him just to get to the parasite, but I will. Jared lunged and punched Kyle in the stomach.
The parasite jumps out of the hole. Shit, what was it doing?
"No!" It screams. We all froze. It stood in front of Jared. In front of him! Kyle pushed it down to hurt it, but Jared caught it. He cringed and dropped it's arm. A flash of hurt came on it's face. Hurt? Why did it care if a human didn't want to touch it?
It moved in front of him again.
"I'm the one you want. Leave him alone." Why is it doing this? Must be a seeker.
"Tricky bugger." I say. Jared pushes it back.
"It's not your duty to protect me at your own expense." It can't care about Jared, right? No that's not possible. He's a human, and it's a worm. I grab it and push it against the wall. I bent it's arm back and it gasps.
"Hey get your hands off of her!" Jared yells. Kyle pulls him into a headlock and Brandt holds Jared's arms still.
"Don't hurt him!" It screams desperately. What game is it playing? Jared frees himself and punched Kyle in the nose. As the blood is coming out, Kyle shouts.
"Finish it!" I wrap my hands around it's small neck easily.
"No!" Jared cries out. Before I have a chance to inflict any real damage, I hear a gun being cocked. Crap. Jeb is here.
