Lex stood in the centre of the church hall at a party he'd rather not attend. Who's party you ask. His own. His parents had organised a party without asking, and when they did they wouldn't take a 'let-me-spend-it-with-my-friends' for an answer. 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEXY' Came the annoying voice of an annoying person. Just when poor Alex thought that his birthday couldn't get any worse. Lex turned his head to see Mary running towards him literally pushing others out of the way. his eyes widened like a deer in the headlights. He looked around. No escape. He was doomed. Doomed for all eternity. Okay, so slight exaggeration but he was doomed. She finally reached her victim, sorry 'friend', screeching to a stop. 'Hey' she twirled a bit of her hair. 'DON'T call me Lexy, it's Alex' he sighed with annoyance.

When everyone had sung happy birthday and given him his presents, his parents stood in front of him saying they had one last present. 'so, we have agreed with Mary's parents,' this can't be good, poor Lex thought. 'when you both turn 18 you two will get engaged' his dad carried on. Annnd i hate my birthday. Mary swung her arms around his neck, and for one heart stopping moment Lex thought she was going to kiss him, but finally some luck decided to befriend him and she gave him a python tight hug. 'isn't that great' she screamed down his ear, effectively murdering his ear drum. Now, Lex might have responded if he wasn't mentally calculating how long it would take to kill someone with a yellow plastic spoon. The room erupted into cheers and shouts for the 'couple.' There were the  'i'm so happy's 'i wish them the best's and the 'she doesn't deserve him's maybe even a few 'i want him's. The whole room was ecstatic, good or bad, happy or sad, pure or evil intentions.
