Chapter 2

FYI: this chapter also takes place in Johanna's flashback.

JOSHUA ROWE

"RAWR!!" I yelled

"It's a monster Mommy, run!" shrieked six year old Katherine Grace as she dodged my attempts to grab her and tried to run away while pulling her mother with her.

"Kat calm down!" Piper picked up Katherine and held her close then turned and glared at me.

"Josh, we are going out for lunch with Daddy, and Frank and Hazel in an hour and I don't need you to get the child riled up. Go play with Vann, or one of your other little friends." She exclaimed

"Fine" I huffed before walking out the front door of Piper and Jason Grace's new cabin built beside the big house. Since I was also a son of Zues, Jason had become something like my older brother.

As I came around the big house and started towards the Apollo cabin to find Vann, I saw a Pegasus coming up half-blood hill at a walk. As it got closer I could see a girl who looked about my age riding with her face buried in the pegasus's mane. Behind her I saw that Vann's body was draped across it's back. I could see blood staining it's pure white coat.

"Piiiipppeeeeerrrrr!!!!" I screeched in alarm as I turned around and raced back to the cabin I had just left.

She came bolting out the front door carrying Katherine. As she saw what I was pointing at she literally shoved Katherine into my arms and raced to Vann's limp body. She picked him up, completely ignoring the girl with Vann.

She surged past me with Vann's body, her brown hair streaming over her shoulders. She called over her shoulder as she was running to the infirmary, "Make sure the girl is all right!"

"Come on Katherine, want to help?" Without waiting for an answer I grabbed her hand and dragged her along with me as fast as her little legs could move.

I touched  the unknown girls leg, "Are you alright?"

She raised her head reveling a tan tear stained face framed by long chocolate brown hair down to her waist.

"No!" she weeped "I did that to him!" She balled up her fists and rubbed them into her eyes. She did that to Vann! Why?!

"What the heck is wrong with you?!" I shouted as I grabbed her arm and dragged her to the ground off the pegasus, completely forgetting Katherine was with me.

I pulled her by her collar until her face was inches away from mine "What...Did...You...Do?" I growled very slowly.

Her eyes were the same color as her hair except they looked rubbed raw. She sniffed, then wiped her nose on the back of her hand. Ew! "I-I-I don't know."

I let go of her shirt as Katherine approached the girl and offered a used tissue from her pocket.

"I'm good" she replied

Katherine shrugged, blew her nose on the tissue, then stuffed it back into her pocket.

"Who are you?" I finally asked

She looked up at me, "Johanna Roberts, but everybody calls me Jo." It looked like she had finally finished crying at last.

"Well... would you like me and Katherine to show you around?"

"I guess so..."

Katherine grabbed Jo's hand, "I have to show you my room first though. I "I decorated it all by myself, and the walls are even pink. She exclaimed
