Hunted

Chapter 5

Elise pov

I heard a loud snapping crunching sound and a cry of pain following after it. I hoped it wasnt any of the forest creatures. Fearing for my friends I started to canter towards the sound with dipper following behind me. We were being cautious as it may be a trap. We reached the place where the sound had come from and I peered cautiously out from behind a tree.

Stuck in a bear trap with his leg all bloody and probably broken was ollie, my pet squirrel. Ollie spotted us lolled over to me. Pain obvious in his expression. Ollie had gone into the woods to play yesterday and I hadn't seen him since then.

I hurried over to ollie feeling sad and angry that this had been done to such a sweet and innocent little animal" ollie!" I called to him as I ran to free him. " who's ollie" dipper asked me. I explained that ollie was my pet squirrel that had been with me for over 3 years. I carefully freed ollie from the bear trap and laid him on a pile of dead leaves.

His leg was definitely broken. I hurriedly gathered up some vines and sticks and began to make a splint on ollie's leg. Hopefully we could be gone soon, the hunters cabin was close to hear and if he was home he would have probably of heard ollie's scream and would be on his way.

I was almost done with ollie's splint when I heard the loud sound of a car driving fast towards us. I froze in terror. It was Bill coming for us. We couldn't just leave ollie to be killed and his splint wasn't finished yet. Maybe I could get dipper and ollie out of there and give them enough time to escape. " Dipper take ollie and go back to the cave as fast as possible" I commanded him. " what about you?" He called, obviously terrified that bill was coming. " don't worry I'll be fine. I've dealt will bill heaps before and I know how to get out of his traps".

Reluctantly he began to gallop out of the clearing, the last of him disappearing as the old white ute pulled to a sudden stop in front of me.
A figure stepped out of the drivers seat of the car. He was wearing a yellow jacket over a red flannel t shirt. His golden blonde hair could be seen messily from under his ragged old cap and one of his golden eyes could be seen smugly eying me off. " well we'll well long time no see dandelion. Did you miss me?"

" hardly" I replied, my voice full of anger and fake confidence. He pretended to look hurt as he began to walk over to me. " what a shame. We could of had a nice friendly reunion. How bout you come on over to my hut and we have a proper reunion the way old friends should. I shuddered at the thought of him taking me home and mounting my head on a wall.

He seemed to take pleasure from that, he seemed to enjoy others in pain. As he reached where I was standing his hands swept down and slung me over his shoulder before I could realise what was going on. When I realised what was going on I began to kick and fight vionlently. It took a lot of effort but I managed to break free of his grasp and bolted away from him. With a smug grin on his face he called to me" you can run but you can't hide. Your fate has already been sealed".

Bills pov

As I reached the clearing I saw another cervitaur running off into the forest. So Elise has a friend now. I guess I'll have to get them both now.
