The orange fall leaves blew in the wind. The wind howled like a wolf looking for his pack. Horse neighs were heared throughout the ranch. The 60 stall horse stable glowed in the Autumn sunlight. The color of a orange-red barn glimmered and shined in the back. All the stables were orange, some had red and one had black. The black one contained the wild horses. The ones who couldn't be tamed. They were kept away from the crowd. Never to be given a chance to show there abilities. Until one day, a young girl went to check on the horses. She was hired as the new stable girl. She was there late at night, as a stable girl would do. She grabbed the food buckets and headed towards the black barn. Carefully. Oh so carefully she pulled open the barn door. Loud sounds of horses rearing in there stalls were heard. A shiver came across the girl. Then suddenly. One horse got out. He kicked open his stall. She was face to face with the stallion. Her eyes wide with fear. The horse showing anger. He was a bay. Darker from the rest. A thoroughbred. Bred for racing but was never used. He had lost hope in the human kind. He feared them. He gave them anger. They gave him nothing. The girl reached out with a food bucket. He appeared as if he has had no food lately. He settles by the side of the food. What. For me? She nods her head. "Take it boy" she whispers. Calmy. Her fear vanished. The stallion walked close. Closer. CLOSER. His nose touched her hand. And he face-dived into the food. He was hungry. It was obvious. "Poor boy. You were just hungry." she gazed around. There were about 10 more horses in there. All in the stalls. They were now calm. She lead the stallion by the halter back into his stall and put the bucket in there. She went around the barn feeding the other horses. One caught her eye. She passed it and couldn't resist going back. It was a mare. She had the darkest of coats, black. The black thoroughbreds were called 'bad luck' but lily, the girl, didnt think so. She tought they were the fairest of them all. She gazed magically at the mare. She was lying down in her stall. Sleeping. What a beauty! She couldnt stay much longer and had to hurry out. She ran into her car, worried she wont be home in the time she said. She was 17 years of age, and her parents worried about her day and night. It didnt bother her, she liked it. It kept her out of trouble. Pulling up into her house she stopped her car and stepped out. Locking the car as she did. Her mother open the door and she went up to bed. It was 12 am and half the house was sleeping. Her mom woke up by the car sound and went to check, which is why she was there. Goodnight, she told the sleeping house.
