Caila's POV
After leaving Mrs. Lacey's house I called Nicole to talk to her about what Mrs. Lacey said. "I hope Nics understands me and where I'm coming from with this." I said as I walked up to her apartment.
"Hey Nics"
"Caila what's up? You look like something or someone is bothering you. If it's Ryan, I'm not afraid to give him a good beat down."
"Nics it's not Ryan" I laughed "It's about a new opportunity that came up for me"
"Oh ok, then spill!" She said
"Ok so there's this couple... and they've been struggling with conceiving because the guy has sperm insufficiency or something like that. The girl did manage to get pregnant but lost it at 11 weeks because she didn't know she was pregnant."
"Wow that sucks. So how are you going to help them Cai?"
"I was thinking of becoming there surrogate mother after I get to know them better"
"That's amazing Caila! But what if you want to keep the baby in the end?"
"I'll have to go through legal stuff, but I doubt that will happen."
"When are you going to meet the couple?" Nicole asked as she ran her hands through her long brown hair
"I'm not so sure cause I didn't tell my parents and brothers yet"
Nicole got up and said "Why don't we have a dinner party!" I sighed "We could have it here or your place or whatever. I could set up the whole thing so you don't have to lift a finger. All you'll have to do is tell Ryan tonight and I'll call your folks and invite them to dinner."
"I don't know Nics. You know how my parents are. If one of them supports me then the other won't. That's how it was when I told them I was coming here for college and grad school with you. My mom agreed and told me to chase after my dreams. And my dad on the other hand said that I could find a good college that has and excellent law program near Greensboro. My mom and my brothers finally convinced him to let me go." I told her as I shook my head
"We might as well give it a shot." she said
"Ok Nics" I sighed
The next day
Caila's POV
I've never been so anxious to tell Ryan anything. We've been together for two years and ten months. Ryan is also a law major and comes from a big family. Ryan isn't too faun of kids at the moment because he thinks that they will be a distraction. He won't even let me get a puppy for crying out loud! Thats the only issue we have. Whenever I bring up marriage and kids, he always finds an excuse so we don't have to talk about it. Don't get me wrong, Ryan does want all of that for us in the future after he feels that we're financially and emotionally ready. The emotionally part is mostly for me. I looked at the clock and it read 5:35 pm, so I decided to whip up Ryan's favorite dinner, Chicken Broccoli Alfredo. Half way through cooking, I heard the door jiggle.
"Baby, I'm home" said Ryan as he set his keys on the table and walked over to me. "Hey baby, how was your day" he asked while giving me small kisses on my neck
"It was okay, I guess" I chucked "How was yours babe?"
"It was good, but being here right now with my girl is even better" he said as he put his arms around my waist and kissed my cheek.
"Haha you're such a goober. Now go set the table, dinner is almost ready."
"Yes, ma'am!" he said as he marched off to the dining room.

Ryan's POV
I got the table ready and Caila brought out our meal. Man, I love this woman so much I'd give her the world. The moment I laid my eyes on her I knew she was the one. My parents, especially my dad, have been bugging me to propose to her for the past year. It's not that I don't want to, I just want to make it extra special for her. Thats the main reason why I change topics whenever Caila brings it up.
"Chicken Brocoli Alfredo, your favorite" she beamed
"Oh honey you know me so well. Lets say a prayer"
After the prayer, I noticed that Caila tensed up. Whenever she tenses up she's worried about something.
"Caila... whats wrong?"
"It's nothing babe" she lowered her head as she spoke
"Come on Caila, I'm not leaving you alone until you tell me"
"Its just that...."
I got up from the table and took our plates to the kitchen. "Baby.." I told her as I was walking back
"I love you and I will never stop"
"Okay" she inhaled "You know how I volunteer to do things all the time?"
"Umm mm"
she leaned on the wall "Well I found out about this couple that has trouble trying to conceive and I want to help them."
"And how are you gonna do that" I asked
she hesitated for a while then said "I want to become their surrogate mother, but only after I get to know them first. But i'll only do it if you'll be with me throughout the whole event."
"Ahh.." I scratched my head "Caila, I love you very much, but there are so many complications with surrogacy. And what about us? People will never look at us the same. I just don't know about this one pumpkin." I sighed
"Please Ryan, for the family. I feel like this was one of my callings from God. I had a dream about it for weeks Ryan, weeks. I even talked to Mrs. Lacey about it and she told me that I should do it. And plus we're helping out someone." she said
"I see where your coming from, but just give me some space to think about it okay?"
she sighed looking defeated "Okay"
I walked over to her and kissed her gently, "I love you Caila"
"I love you too Ryan" I kissed her head
"Goodnight"
"Goodnight" she yawned
I felt like a complete douche for telling her that. Its just that I want to get married to her soon and start a family with her. I want her to carry our kid. Not some other dudes kid. What if she decides to keep the kid? What if she falls in love with the dude? I don't want us to go through that cause I don't want Caila to get hurt. She's too precious for that. She's my everything and I can't bare to lose her. But if this is what she truly wants, then I'll be there for her. Caila deserves to be happy. and i'll do everything I can to keep her happy.
