The first time Tetsurou asks you out, he does so with tickets to a movie premiere. He walks up to you in the library, sliding in one of the seats across you with a sheepish smile.

"It's Mockingjay," he explains nervously, palming the back of his neck as you stare at him curiously, "uh, part two. They're showing it this Saturday, and I was wondering if you'd like to go with me."

There's a slight quirk of your lips, a small smile that makes his heart flutter without his permission. "It's nice of you to ask me," you say, but soon your expression falters. And as your smile drops, so did his heart. "But I'm out of town on the weekend so I'm afraid I must decline your offer for now."

Kuroo tries to mask his disappointment. "Oh, no worries. We can go another time then to watch the movie." He smiles at the your visible relief, but later he feels disappointment filling the pit of his stomach, and he delivers the tickets to Bokuto and Akaashi.

The second time occurs a few days later as he cross paths with you in the hallways. He has just gotten out of another frustrating lecture, and god, that professor could talk his ear off. "That man cannot get anymore boring," he says with a groan.

"So glad I don't take physics," you laugh.

"I wish you were though. So we can whisper and pass notes to each other."

You roll your eyes at his statement, but a wide smile is still present on your lips. "Passing notes? We're not in high school, Kuroo."

"Shut up, we're still young," Kuroo pouts. Then he smiles nervously, "Oh, by the way, I'm free from classes for the rest of the day, so I was wondering maybe we could-"

And then a loud ringtone shrills, interrupting him. Your phone starts to ring in your hand. You peel at your screen before looking up at him with an apologetic look on your face, "Sorry, I have to take this. You were saying...?"

"Nah, nothing important. You should answer that." Outwardly, Kuroo smiles.

Inwardly, he groans.

The third time is much like the first time except this time. But this, when he asked, Kuroo got the answer he was looking for - he's going to the movies and later dinner with you.

Kuroo walks into the living room of his shared apartment, fixing his collar of his charcoal jacket all the while smiling like a child in Disneyland. "So dude," he says to the owl-like man lounging on the couch, "how do I look?"

Said man, Bokuto, hums in thought, rubbing his chin. "What's the heterosexual equivalent to 'hot'?" he asks playfully, to which the blond - Tsukishima - sitting across the room scoffs.

"Dude, being serious here," Kuroo states. He walks in front of the unused television, staring at his reflection on the black screen. "This is my first actual date in forever, and it's with someone-"

"-You've been crushing for since freshman year," Tsukishima finishes with a mocking tone. "Yeah, we're aware. You weren't exactly discreet."

"Don't listen to him, man," Bokuto rises from the couch, taking long strides towards Kuroo. After a moment of inspection, he adjusts Kuroo's jacket, and fixes - or at least, he tried - his dark hair. "There," he says, seemingly smug of his handiwork, "now you look like Derek Hale."

"Really? I was going for more Dean Winchester."

Bokuto gives him a look, shaking his head. "Yeah...no, now that I think about it, maybe more Damon Salvatore," he states. It's Kuroo's turn to make a face, but Bokuto cuts in before he can say anything, pushing him towards the door. "Enough talk about ridiculously attractive TV show characters with unrealistic body goals. Just go already!"
