Davis pushed the cart leisurely,
"Uh... Sorry about the food. I guess I don't really cook all that much." He smiled at me sheepishly.
I ignored him and stopped to look at some tomatoes. I took a few ripe ones and placed them into the clear plastic bag carefully.
God this is embarrassing. I wonder if he thinks I have a crush on him. This is bad. This is bad. This is really bad.
I stand impatiently in the checkout line. When the old lady finally left we stepped up to the conveyor belt. A pretty blond hair blue eyed clerk with an actual figure batted her eyelashes at Davis.
"Hey, honey." she said flirtatiously while twirling her hair excessively.
Davis smiled politely,
"Hello."
The blond puckers her lips in a disappointed pout and continued to check out our items.
"$41.59 please, but it would be $30 if you come to my place for something nice" she winked.
Davis' polite smile vanished. I quickly threw $42 dollars in her face, grabbed the bags, and towed Davis out.
~
"Do you get that a lot?" I asked with a grim smile.
He started the car,
"Mmm, sometimes."
I smirked,
"A lot it is then."
He drove in silence as I stared out the window. I took that moment to think about all that had happened that day.
I wonder if dad is okay. I really shouldn't have splashed water on him to wake him up. Actually, maybe I was right to. He seriously needs to go back to work and who is he to try to abuse me?... How did I even end up rooming with Davis? Maybe I should leave and find a crappy hotel instead. I mean it's already really awkward and it hasn't even been one day. Why did I have to grab his shirt before.
I wanted to bang my head against something. Enough to get amnesia at least.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing." I snapped at David.
I quickly look away.
What just happened. I totally did not mean to sound so annoyed. Ugh. I'm such a big idiot.
~
Reaching the condo I immediately shot to my room and slammed the door shut behind me. I leaned against the door and softly banged my head against it.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
I straightened up and walked into the kitchen calmly. Davis stared at me like I was crazy. I smiled sweetly at him. He raised an eyebrow. I narrowed my eyes. He stepped back.
A moment of silence and we both burst out laughing. I laughed so hard my stomach started hurting and tears sprang to my eyes. I gripped the kitchen counter and breathed in and out to calm myself only to start laughing again when I looked up. Davis wiped away the tears in his eyes.
"Let's get chopping or we'll be eating dinner in the morning."
"Ha ha." I said sarcastically.
I quickly diced the onions as tears sprang to my eyes and tossed them into a bowl. Davis was leaning on the doorframe,
"You sure I can't help?"
"Psh, what can a rich pretty boy do in the kitchen."
He grabbed the knife and shoved me aside. He started to chop the carrots with quick efficiency. He looked at me with a smug smile,
"Yeah yeah rich kid, don't boast."
I poured oil into the pan and put the onions in. He pushed me aside again. I glared at him,
"Hey!"
He looks at me with the smugness still plastered to his face,
"It's not my fault you don't do it right."
I raised an eyebrow,
"And you think you can cook better than I can?"
"I don't think I can. I know I can."
"Well if you know so much you can cook tonights dinner."
I waltzed out of the kitchen and fell into the plush sofa,
Gosh, that guy is so arrogant. Well he can do it his way.
I turned on the TV.
-...Anna Bark has been reported missing...-
I immediate turned the TV off and dropped the remote like it was a ticking bomb. I ran back into the kitchen and Davis turns to me,
"Whats up? You look like you just saw a ghost."
I relaxed at the sight of him and nodded,
"I did. It's right in front of me."
He looked around mockingly,
"Really where?"
I roll my eyes,
"Get cooking rich kid."
~
I licked my lips,
"Mmm... this is good. I'm actually surprised."
He shakes his finger at me,
"It's not nice to doubt people."
"Who said I was nice."
He leaned towards me and looked me straight in the eye,
"You did."
I smirked,
"Smartass."
"It takes one to know one," he smirked back at me.
I took another bite, and he laughs.
"You're so messy. Come here."
He leaned across the table and wiped my mouth. I pulled away and swiped the back of my hand across my face.
"I'm not a baby," I pouted.
He shrugged,
"You sure fooled me."
I shook my head and got up. I stretched,
"I'm gonna do the dishes and go to bed."
He smiles,
"Okay, I'm gonna take a shower then."
I gather the plates to the large sink. I could hear Davis shuffle away and into the shower. The pitter patter of the water soothed me. I started to hum. Ten minutes later I was still washing the dishes. I didn't notice that Davis was then in the kitchen with me until his strong arms wrapped around me. I was so startled I squeaked and accidently dropped the dish into the soapy suds.
He didn't say anything he just put his wet hair against my shoulder while I was frozen. When I finally came back to my senses I shoved him away,
"What do you think you're doing? Do you invite girls to you home just so you can molest them? What is wrong with you?"
He looks at me with puppy dog eyes,
"Sorry, but friends can hug each other."
I humphed at him but continued to do the dishes. I was about to dry it when Davis took the washcloth and the plate from my hand. I gasped as our hands touched. Davis pretended not to notice and placed the dry dish on a rack.
"I'm gonna go to bed now."
I shuffled to my bedroom and closed the door.
God I'm stupid. Lets hope I'm not that idiotic in my dreams.
I collapsed onto the bed and fell into unconsciousness.
