Recap: Carmine ordered three shots of his strongest mix, but this time Baun knew better than to argue. She downed them each consecutively, and went to join the crowd surrounding the brawlers.

**********************

This is going to be fun, Carmine thought. She stepped forward and hit the biggest brawler so hard in the face he keeled over. Instantly, the attention of the remaining brawlers and the crowd was on her. Before Carmine could even turn around, a fist caught her in the jaw. She spun around, kicked out with precision and hit him right in the sternum.

Two down, three to go.

The audience looked at her with awe and surprise, but the fight wasn’t over yet. The three others flung themselves at her shouting things that made absolutely no sense.

“Yeh stole me chickens!”

“When will you learn Sally?! Don’t take my rum!”

Carmine laughed bit as she dodged behind them and hit them on pressure points on their necks. They fell over, out cold.

“I guess they never learned that trick, did they?” She asked the crowd, breaking the silence. They erupted in cheers and helped themselves to more drinks, and more lively music started up. Carmine was served the specialty beer, and was about to take her first swig when someone tapped her on the shoulder. As soon as she turned around, she regretted it. This man was handsome, but in the confident, egotistical way. He was obviously used to getting what he wanted, which, right now, was probably her.

“Nice job back there” he said, trying to flatter her. He looked her up and down.

“Why don’t you tell me your name?”

Carmine nearly snorted in disbelief. As if. But she managed to contain herself and played coy.

“I think you should tell me yours first,” she said, blushing, and looking down at her drink.

“Andreas Derica, but you can call me Andy.” He winked at her. Viceroy Andreas Derica!?

“What are you doing in AtalantaTerritory? I mean, as Viceroy of Greer, aren’t you a little unsafe here?” she added the last part to sound worried, but she really was surprised he would have the nerve to show himself in a public place in the Capitalfor Chris sakes.

He chuckled.

“Well none of the Atalanta Superiors are going to be looking for me around riffraff like this, are they? Obviously,” he said, gesturing around, “they have more important things to do.” He wrinkled his nose in disgust, “What snobs.”

Carmine clenched her fist in anger. How dare he call them snobs? She, the Viceroy, was here, right in front of him. Instead of punching him like she wanted to, she stuck to her shy façade.

“How brave of you to adventure into this territory!” she exclaimed, and looked adoringly up at him. His face had lust written all over it and even though he was handsome, it was a disgusting expression. Andreas took her beer from her hands, grabbed her hand, and led her outside. She giggled falsely and asked him where they were going. Once, they were outside,  he pushed her against the wall and kissed her roughly. Though thoroughly repulsed, Carmine responded a bit. He still wasn’t relaxed enough for her to tranquilize him. She shivered in disgust against him and he took this as a signal to deepen the kiss. He’s definitely relaxed now, she thought. Carmine deftly slipped her hand into her hair, pulled out the special hair clip, and stabbed “Andy” in the neck. His eyes flew open in shock, but he was unconscious before he could properly react.

**************************

Carmine watched as Andreas fell to the ground. Then she signaled to Ermé, who had been hiding in the shadows through the whole ordeal. As Ermé lifted the limp body on his shoulders like he was a feather, Carmine contemplated the situation. She really had just wanted to kill the man for taking advantage of her. More like the person she was playing, either way. Really, he should be killed for all the rape, murder, and stealing he had done as Viceroy. Unfortunately, he had valuable information she needed, and her duty was to her clan, not the personal hate she had for Andreas. Ermé cleared his throat.

“Shouldn’t we be going now?”

Shaking herself out of the reverie, she started back to headquarters.
