Pirate of Meteli (Editing)

Returning home

Laurence's pov

It was two months after that happened. I sighed at my desk as I started counting the coins we got from an abandoned ship. We went back many times to where we first saw sightings of the mermaids but now....we don't even see a scale. This is so irritating! I put my forehead on my desk and sighed. What made matters worse is that I lost the pocket watch that belonged to my mother before she died.

I had put a picture of Cadenza in there and now it's lost. "Captain!" I heard Travis yell and I left the room. "What is it Travis?" I asked as I looked to where all my crew were looking. "Look Captain.....there is a whole city down there." Travis said as he stared at the water. I leaned over and looked down as well. There was a small city......Phoenix Drop.....the home of many mermaids.

I felt a sense of hope and I yelled "Get the net ready!" Dante nodded and yelled "Aye!" The crew scattered about and in the water I saw a purple tail. It was for merely a second but maybe it was her. I smiled and helped with the net. We threw the net down and it started to sink but float. We waited, and waited, and waited but there was nothing. Mermaids are quite smart.

I pulled the net up and it was nearly night. The sun was going down and I ran my hand though my hair and sighed. *clank* I heard a small noise that sounded like metal. I looked around but didn't see anything. *clank* I heard the noise again and then was hit in the head forcefully with a small metal object.

The object fell into my hand. It was the pocket watch! Wait, where did it come from?" I looked overboard and saw a purple tail swimming away. "Hey wait! Come back!" I yelled and the mermaid turned around. Her black hair was floating around her and her eyes sparkled.....she was truly beautiful. After about midnight I started to give up. "Set the sails! Get ready to leave." I called out.

Dante and Travis helped as I steered the ship. I decided to return to Meteli for my punishment. We sailed for a day and a half and we soon reached Meteli. "Laurence, what are we doing back at Meteli?" Dante asked and I sighed "Dante, you are now Captain of this ship until I return." I said giving Dante my Captains hat. Dante looked at me shocked and I jumped into the water.

I swam to the dock and pulled myself up. "Heh, so you finally returned." I was greeted with a sword to my face and Vincent smirking. I knew this wasn't going to turn out good. "Get moving!" Vincent yelled as he pushed me. He had tied my hands behind my back and was forcing me to walk. "*Gasp!* Laurence is a pirate? Who would have guessed?" The crowd was murmuring and I looked down.

I was glad that they didn't go after my ship but I knew they would soon. We reached Cadenza's house and I asked "I thought I was going to the lords house?" Vincent pushed me and said "You are." .........Did father die? He pushed me through the door and was I pushed to the ground kneeling. I slightly looked up and saw Cadenza looking out the window.......my poor little sister.
