Streamclan's Destiny: The Quest

Chapter 3

Moonlight shown through the warrior's den as Streamtail stood and stretched. She padded out of the den and looked up into the sky. It was just after moon-high, but she could her Icepaw's and Stardust's voices coming from the medicine den. Foxstar pushed his way out of the leader's den and padded towards her.

"I'll miss you," Foxstar whispered. He licked Streamtail between her ears.

"I'll come back as fast as I can," Streamtail purred. She caught some movement out of the corner of her eye and looked at where it came from. Splashfur was washing himself, but he had stopped and stared when Foxstar licked her. He met Streamtail's gaze and went back to washing.

"Are you beginning to like someone else," Foxstar meowed questionably, but with a hint of tease. Streamtail whipped her head around to face him.

"What! No of course not," She spat defensively. Foxstar purred with amusement. Stardust and Icepaw padded out of the medicine den and sat with them. Icepaw touched Streamtail's shoulder with the tip of her tail.

"The traveling herbs are ready, so we can leave now or at dawn," Icepaw mewed. She wrapped her tail over her paws and looked over at Stardust.

"Right, Foxstar, Icepaw had a dream from Starclan," Stardust meowed. Foxstar looked at Icepaw and flicked his tail a couple of times.

"Let's here it then," Foxstar purred encouragingly. Icepaw closed her eyes.

"Rocks. I saw big rocks, like boulders, but some were smaller. There was a narrow tunnel I walked into. Dark at first, then a dim light was in front of me. I walked through and saw tall grass. There were cats with shiny pelts. They disappeared into the grass so I followed, but then I woke up," Icepaw explained as she slowly opened her eyes. Foxstar looked thoughtful for a while.

"Maybe what you saw was the new place for Starclan," He murmured finally,"You must leave now. Find the place in your dream. I wish you luck." Stardust dipped his head and whisked away to the medicine cat den. He soon came back with two bundles of leaves that held the herbs. Icepaw and Streamtail ate the herbs in hurried bites. Stardust and Icepaw walked towards the entrance of the camp. Foxstar met Streamtail's gaze. She touched his shoulder with the tip of her tail and headed towards Icepaw. Icepaw dipped her head to Stardust and matched Streamtail's stride. They pushed their way through the bramble and reed entrance.

"What now?" Icepaw asked the Streamclan deputy.

"We search our territory for those rocks in your dream," Streamtail answered.
