CHAPTER SEVEN
(HARRY'S POV)
Silence. We ate dinner in silence. It seemed peaceful, yet frightening at the same time. For the past two days, the boys and I had gotten used to this eerie silence. It was as if we each had so many things to say at once, but couldn't manage to get the words to come out of our mouths.
As I ate my lasagna, I studied the girl sitting across from me eat her dinner. She ate her food in a slow, peaceful manner, like she didn't find the need to rush. Her fork stabbed into the food, breaking off tiny pieces and putting it up to her small, round mouth to chew slowly and quietly. Her head didn't look up once while she ate, she just kept her eyes glued to her plate and chewed on her food.
It was in that moment I realized something. We had known this girl for two days, but we didn't actually know her. We didn't know what her interests were, how old she was, or even her name. If she was going to be staying with us for awhile, I at least wanted to get to know this little girl.
"Alright," I spoke, breaking the eerie silence, "I have an idea,"
Everyone's eyes turned to me, interested in what I had to say. I continued on by turning back to face the girl whose honey brown eyes were curiously staring into mine, "We've known you for a few days now, but we don't know much about you. Why don't you tell us a bit about yourself, love?" I sent her an encouraging smile.
The rest of the boys turned to face the girl to see what she was going to say, but nothing escaped her mouth. Nothing. Not a word, peep, or even a simple sound. She just sat in her chair staring back at the rest of us keeping her lips tightly shut.
After about two minutes of waiting for her to say something, I sighed. "Alright, how about we ask some questions then?"
She tilted her small head to the side, almost as if she were saying, 'What questions?'
"Hm," I tapped my chin thinking of a question, "Do you like music?"
She nodded her head and the corners of my mouth turned up into a smile. "Really? What about dancing?"
Another nod. I looked over at the boys who looked back with smiles on each of their faces. They seemed impressed at how well she was responding to the questions.
"What about books? Do you like to read?" Zayn asked.
She nodded her head again with a small smile on her face.
"Do you like play board games?" Louis asked next.
Another nod.
"Do you like to draw?" Niall asked.
She nodded, but this time, her smile grew completely big and I saw a little lightbulb go off in her head. She quickly jumped off of her seat and ran into the kitchen to get something. The rest of us watched her take off and sat there confused.
