CHAPTER TEN
(LIAM'S POV)
It was a scream that shot my tired body straight up from my soft pillow, making my eyes go wide. It was a scream that echoed from down the hall and bounced off the walls of our flat. It was a scream that I had never heard before, yet managed for chills to go down my spine and goosebumps all over my body. Not once had I ever heard one of the boys scream in their sleep throughout my three years of knowing them, but maybe tonight would be a first.
Or maybe I was just hearing things? Maybe my mind was playing games just so I wouldn't be able to sleep for the rest of the night. Yeah, that probably was it.
My eyes turned to the alarm clock sitting on the small table next to my bed, the digital numbers showing that It was only a few minutes until three in the morning. I looked back over to eye my door to make sure nothing else would happen so I could back to sleep, and with the silence following after, I let out a tired sigh and rested my head gently back onto my pillow.
As I closed my eyes and tried my best to fall back asleep, I thought about many things: my family, the boys, the fans, you name it. I even made up scenarios in my head because normally that was the easiest way for me to fall asleep. But it wasn't even a few minutes later when someone down the hall let out another loud scream. And that someone did not sound anything like a teenage boy.
I quickly pushed off the covers and hopped out of bed, rushing to the door. I opened the door and rushed down the small hallway to Willow's room and placed my ear against her door. Inside, I could hear the sound of soft whimpering, as if she was crying in her sleep. Maybe she was having a nightmare?
Pulling down on the handle, I slowly opened the door, hoping for it not to creak so she wouldn't wake up. The light from the moon illuminated her room, allowing me to see things a bit better. I quietly padded over to the side of her bed to see that the girl was tossing and turning with tears on her cheeks. Her eyes were still shut and her knuckles were beginning to turn white from her tight grip on the covers.
As I got closer to the side of the bed and kneeled down, she let out a loud whimper and rolled over to where she was facing me.
"Willow," I whispered, bringing my hand to her shoulder and gently shaking it for her to wake up, "Willow, wake up,"
She squirmed further into her pillow at my touch and kept moving around in the bed. A few more whimpers escaped her mouth as more tears escaped her eyes.
"Willow, come on love, wake up," I tried again, bringing my hand back to the same spot and shaking it, but a little bit harder this time. In response, she kept tossing and turning frantically.
"Willow," I said a bit louder and shaking her, and her eyes snapped open and let out another loud scream. She panted heavily as the tears continued to flow and once she noticed me next to her, she let out a gasp and quickly pulled the covers over her head so she could hide. A few seconds later, I could hear quiet sobs coming from underneath the covers.
"Love, come out please, everything's alright," I said in my best convincing and comforting tone. But she remained under the covers and continued to cry. I stayed there for a few moments, waiting for her to pull the covers off of her and let me comfort her, but nothing changed.
