The blond man stood in front of the classroom filled with about fifty adults of varying ages. The man had on a black cloak with the middle going from bottom left to top right. He stood in front of the chalk board with a piece of chalk in his right hand. " Well, good morning everyone. Glad to see you all could make it to Central for the alchemist exam. Now I know all of you know quite a lot about alchemy, and many of you use specific style's to your liking. But how about for Sanity's sake, we start off with the basics."
He turned around and wrote three numbers. "Now. Can anyone tell me what the three main steps in Alchemy are?" He looked around the classroom at the young alchemists when he saw a hand being raised near the front. It belonged to A young man in his early twenty's, His hair cut short and One of the blackest heads of hair he had seen. The young man was wearing a leather jacket with what looked like a blue shirt underneath and white dress pants on as well. "Yes you there, whats your name?"
The Young man looked surprised he was called on but then stood up clearing his throat for a second"Well... My name is Darius. Darius Fulton"
"Where are you from Darius?" The blond man smiled as he crossed his arms and leaned back against the chalk board.
"Well, I'm from the town of Reole, it's a town in the Eastern area of Amestris." Darius smirked a little "I bet you've never heard of it"
"Hmmm lets see, Reole, was one of the hot spots as i call them about 30 years ago or so where a priest was overthrown which caused a great revolt that lead to hundreds of deaths and hundreds more when the original government of Amestris stepped in. The Priest that was overthrown at the time was Father Cornello, and the State Alchemist who overthrew him was the Infamous Full Metal Alchemist, Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse Elric. But that's beside the point. As I asked, What are the three steps in Alchemy are?"
Darius scratched his head for a moment and then smiled "The Three Steps in Alchemy are as follows, Comprehension, Deconstruction, And reconstruction. The First step, Comprehension is The ability to understand How an object is made up, like how the molecular structure is, or the kinetic and potential forces in said object.
"The next step, Deconstruction, is much simpler then the first in that it breaks the object down into a much easier substance to meld, like it's base components. The final step is reconstruction which is a continuation of the Deconstruction Step and Involves molding or reshaping the basic components into a new object shape." And with that, Darius Sat back down shaking a little as The Blond man smiled and clapped for a few seconds
"Very good Darius, Those were all correct. Now, I want someone other then Darius to tell me what the two Rules Of alchemy are?" This time, a girl looking around the same age as Darius brought her hand up quicker then anyone he had ever seen. "All right. Introduce yourself, then answer my question Please." The Blond man relaxed as he wrote the three steps onto the board and then two numbers beside it.
"Well, My name is Kiry Armstrong." This brought many gasps from the entire class and the man stopped writing for a second but then smiled
"Go on Kiry, you may continue"
"Well, I was Born here in Central and you can probably guess where. But that's beside the point. The Two Rules of Alchemy are The Law of conservation of mass, which states that matter nor energy can be created or destroyed. I.E. You can't get something out of nothing nor can you get nothing out of something. A simpler explanation is you cannot fully destroy something, you can only break it down to it's most basic components, but no further. Say if you had a cube of mixed elements, you could only make it it's smallest possible if you separate all of the elements and laid them in piles, they would all equal the amount of the cubes original weight.
"The second Law is that of the law of natural Providence. Basically An Object can only be transmuted into an object of similar Physical and Molecular Makeup. If you wanted to transmute something from ice, you could only transmute the Ice into something that was also made of water."
"Thank you very m-" but she didn't stop there, she kept going.
"These two laws are the set of Laws that fall under the name of The Equivalent Exchange. These two laws must always be obeyed and one must always know and understand the molecular structure to be able to transmute any object, otherwise One will cause a rebound. And when that happens, Something is lost. You and your brother know that all to well, don't you, Alphonse Elric?" This caused a bit of a gasp from the crowd. Kiry did not smirk, she only looked calm, knowing she was right. Darius raised his eye brows and smirked. Alphonse, as he turned from the chalkboard to face the assembled Alchemists, laughed a hearty laugh and rubbed the back of his head
"Well, guess the jigs up, thought it would take a long time for you guys to figure that out. But yes, I am Alphonse Elric. Brother of Edward Elric, the original FullMetal Alchemist. As I stated before, I am the head of this years Alchemists Exam. Usually Roy Mustang would be the one judging these exams. But This year he was pretty busy and I owed him a favor and that's besides the point. Some of you may have heard about how the State Alchemists exam goes, some of you are here year after year. Well, I'll tell what is in store.
"It used to involve three steps, a written exam, An interview, and A practical exam on your abilities as an alchemist. Well, the first two steps are still the same as they were before, but for the past fifteen years, The third step is set up as a tournament or other types of tests depending on the type of Alchemy you use. The Test is one month and a week from now. This next week will be filled with Studying all there is to know about Alchemy. After that you will be paired with one of the state Alchemist that are in central and you will follow them, Learn from them all you can and then you will take part in the test."
As Alphonse said this he slowly walked to the desk set in front of the center of the chalk board. He got behind it, and faced the Alchemists. On his hands were white gloves with with A circle and four triangles on each glove, one in the center, and three on each side going to the edge of the circle. He smiled as he clapped his hands together and slammed them onto the desk and with a rather bright flash of blueish white light, what looked like a staff seemed to come out of the desk, though the top of the desk was now missing quite a considerable amount of wood from it.
"Welcome, all of you to the beginning of The State Alchemist Exams!" Alphonse said this with a flourish.
