Kaylie's POV

As I walked to my 2nd period class, writing, I saw that James guy walking in front of me. He seemed to be heading in the same direction that I am. I watched him turn into a classroom, which happened to be the class that I was going to too.

Oh wow... I thought. This is gonna be interesting...

I was one of the first ones there, like always, so I put my stuff down on my desk in the first row, and helped straighten desks that the last class shifted. As I silently did that, James was talking to Mr. Friez. I couldn't hear what they were saying, so I ignored them.

As other people came filing in, I sat down in my seat and just waited for the bell to ring. When it did, Mr. Friez pointed to the seat right behind me, where James sat down. I turned around and watched him as he put his backpack on the ground and took out a pencil. He looked at me, so I blushed and turned back around.

I sat there with red cheeks until Mr. Friez started talking. "Good morning, students. It appears we have a new student today. Go ahead and introduce yourself," he said motioning towards James. He nodded and stood up confidently and said, "Hi. I'm James Clark and I'm from New York. I like blue and I have a sister who's a freshman."

He sat back down and relaxed. Mr. Friez said, "That's cool. Kaylie, you're one of my brightest students, so could you please help him out throughout this week until he gets fully in the swing of things?"

I answered with a stutter, "Of course." He smiled and turned towards the board.

After that, the rest of class was boring. Today, we were specifically studying how to make a fun, eye-catching, but not cheesy grabber for an essay. But my definition of fun isn't the same as his definition of fun. I was literally almost asleep when the bell rang. I took one last look at James, sighed and smiled, then ran out the door.
