I slowly opened my eyes, trying to make out my surroundings. I recognized the hospital's white room and uncomfortable bed. I looked at the person sitting in the red bean bag chair at the edge of the room. It was Sasha. I instantly recognized her honey blonde hair, green eyes and long legs. When she saw that I was awake, she sprung off her chair causing the magazine she was reading to drop on the floor.
"Are you okay Amelia? You scared the living shit out of me," she said softly.
"What happened?"
"You just suddenly passed out," she said whilst caressing my hair. She always did that when she thought I needed comforting.
Oh yeah, during my physics exam," I thought to myself. The physics exam! Oh my God, I missed my physics exam! I screamed in my head and again out loud. I immediately sprang off of the bed, scanning the room for my shoes. "I need to talk to Mr.Burke!"
"Slow down Miss Goodie Goodie," she said laughing. "He told me to tell you to get better. He will give us both a make up test later."
I collapsed back on the bed, letting out a huge sigh of relief.
"Which I am grateful for by the way. That physics test was seriously kicking my ass!" she continued while waving over Dr.Smith.
"Hey honey, how are you feeling?" Dr.smith asked while placing her palm on my forehead to check my temperature.
"I'm alright."
"You know, you really shouldn't be stressing yourself out at this stage, you need to take things slow."
"At this stage?"
What does she mean by "at this stage?"
"Yes honey, with your condition and all. I promised your dad I would take care of you. Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant? If you didn't want me to tell your father I wouldn't have but in case of situations like this I need to be on the know."
Sasha and I stared at each then burst out laughing at Dr.Smith's ridiculous joke. She always used humor when talking to me, a way to make me feel relaxed around her, I thought.
"This is not a laughing matter. If you go on like this, you could be seriously hurt."
I looked at Dr.Smith's serious face which made me laugh even harder.
"Did my dad put you up to this, Dr. Smith?" I asked chuckling. "Is this his way of finding out if I am sexually active?"
"My dad has always been sly," I said to Sasha who nodded, still unable to control her laughter.
"Amelia!" Dr. Smith said sternly. "Don't take this lightly, even if I want to tell your father I wouldn't be able to; I am bound by law."
"I am not pregnant Dr. Smith," I said nonchalantly. "It has to be a mistake of some sort."
"Yes, honey you are. The results are right here," she said taking out a piece of paper from her beige folder. "When was the last time you were on your period?"
"It skipped this month but that's normal; it does that sometimes."
"You are approximately five weeks pregnant honey," she said giving me the test results. I scanned the black and white paper which happened to have my name on it.
